Map Generation at the start of a game

Questions about rules, how things work, etc.

  • Hello everyone,

I am here to tell/ask about the map which was randomly generated at the start of my match which is still going on. The creator of the game was a L1 licensed player, so based on my knowledge, he can only create a game with a balanced map. Anyway, the game started, with everyone having 3 generators + 2 factories (It is a 10 player game). However, after looking at the odd looking map with only dormant factories in sight and some talking with other players, I realized that the outposts were divided 30 generators/70 factories, thus making every single dormant outpost a factory, leading to an interesting (and a little unfair) setup where everyone is capped extremely fast and players who could get a tinkerer were at a significant advantage.

How could this happen, when the creator of the game also said that he created a balanced game?

And another question of mine, are the maximum shield charged also randomized when a map is created? I had games where only my queens outpost had a base shield charge of 20, where every single other outpost, including dormants, had only 10. And this game, I started with 3 outposts with base shield charges of 20, and also got some dormant outposts which also had 20 base charge.
Imagine how stupid the average person is. Then realize that half of the people are even stupider than that.

  • Maps are randomly generated. L1's can only create random maps not balanced so the map you got was extremely factory heavy due to the random generation. There is an article on the wikia about map generation. Also shields are randomly generated as well.

    I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.

    ...
    7. We then randomly choose what percentage of outposts are generators. the range is 30%-60%
    ...

So yeah, the 30% is the lowest limit of a randomly generated map. I played such a game once and it felt quite unbalaced. For the first half of the game, not the players were the enemy, but the map was.
