A FAQ Questions thread to make forums cleaner

Questions about rules, how things work, etc.

  • Hey guys,
So I just asked about cleaning the forums up by deleting the old questions which are almost always dead, and even though some new forumers have questions, it is really hard for them to find these answers in 25 pages long of threads as one must look often unnecessarily long, as the "Search" function doesn't really help people a lot(most people actually do not know how to use the Search function, and I also learned it new myself) which leads to new threads about questions already asked, which pollutes forums more. So I have a suggestion here:

What if we (or, as the main suggestor, I) create a main FAQ thread which contains all answers to all questions asked till now (which do not repeat themselves) in a document file which will be shared in this thread. (and will be stickied on top) As the Ctrl + F functionality is available on word documents, it should make finding answers to most questions a lot easier, and after we wipe out all the old "answered questions" here.

What do you think? Do you see this as an unnecessary waste of time as we can move on just like we did till now?

  • I second this motion. For each question, would we post the answer or the link to the already existing thread that has been buried? You would want to keep it clean and organized so that anyone can quickly see if their question is there without having to scroll through everything, so maybe have a table of contents at the very beginning.
Zyxe? Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.

Yeah there will be one, and I also plan to use some specific methods to find stuff easier, for example:

There are lots of specialist interaction questions here. There will be a 'Specialist Interactions' section under the table of contents, and after each question which is relevant to the specific specialists, I will put (X + Y) x and y being the specialist names, so that anyone can write x + y in Ctrl + F form to find the exact solution they need instantly.

I will probably also add a manual for these easy methods to make it practical ^^

  • If your up to the task I'll support and sticky it. There may be a lot of questions so perhaps you can make a task force to rush through it. I'd suggest compiling a document in Google Drive and sharing it together.

What kind of categories are you thinking of?
    Common Glicthes?
    Specialist Interaction?
    Time issues?

    Pm if any questions.

Specialist Interactions and Time Issues are two main categories, but I must search through all of this topic to categorize everything, so there may be more. I did not really intend to add glitches or bug reports, as they might be caused from device problems or just code mistakes which are already fixed, but if there are some which are still relevant now, I will of course add them as well.

  • Any help would be appreciated!

And after a quick skim-through of the 21 pages, I noticed that there are many single specialist based questions in there aside from different interactions, so I will first make a Specialist topic, answer questions about specific specialists, and then answer to different interactions after. Aside these, I found a lot of questions about these categories as well:

Mining - Funding - Neptunium Production
    Security Clearance Levels - L0, L1, L2 , and Rated Games + Rankings
Gameplay (not sure how to categorize this, but this includes questions about gift subs, timing issues about sub arrivals, sub interactions, game creation and so on.)
General Specialist Knowledge (Which will come before the questions about specific specialists, and cover things like 'specialist categories, how the decks are built, promotions, gifted specialists etc.)

And of course an 'Other' section for very specific questions which do not fit anywhere.

  • I personally would be happy if the English and German Wikipedia sticky links were combined in the general forum. :D
