  • Hi everyone,

I may be being very stupid but I keep seeing posts about the king being op and I don't know why I mean I have seen what it does but I haven't played any games yet where it has been used much .

Can anyone explain how it's used properly , common strategies and the pitfalls of it as I want to be able to rumble with the best in upcoming tourneys!

    Thanks !

  • How to use Kings:
Step 1: Hire Hypnotist, or find some way to get a Hypnotist from another player.
Step 2: Promote Hypnotist, or find some way to get a King from another player.
Step 3: Repeat Steps 1 and 2 as many times as can be managed.
    Step 4: Acquire Drillers.
    Step 5: Smash.

King stacks are aggravating to deal with, but you can still tactics your way through.

Sentry/Intelligence Officer and/or Princess stacks: King subs require them all to be in one sub to ensure max damage. The Sentry happens to shoot down more drillers at once on subs with many drillers.
Generals + Specialists: whittles down the enemy driller count while losing none of your own drillers. Don't forget to include some method to get your specialists back.
Double Agent/Martyr: destroys all drillers involved in the fight, or immediate area.

    Happy Crowning!

  • Yeah, people like to whine about how Kings are OP. They really aren't, though.

What is OP is anything stacked - Admirals especially, but also Tycoons, Engineers, Generals, Sentries, whatever, and yes, including Kings. Any specialist that can be stacked can turn in to a real nightmare if it isn't dealt with correctly.

That said, like Silver said, though indirectly, the best way to fight Kings isn't with drillers. Kings boost the efficiency of the player's drillers; unless you have kings as well, you drillers will be weaker. To counter this, non-driller fights are to your advantage: double agents, martyrs, saboteurs, sentries, generals, and shields. Speed also helps, as it always does.

Another thing to remember is that the first king promotion is very weak; though the drillers get a significant boost, the loss of all shields makes them vulnerable. It is often best to just go ahead and hit them early, because you can assume that if they have one king, they are going to try to get more.

    Good luck out there.
