intercepting sub

My opponent is transferring his queen via sub with five drillers. I have a sub with fifteen drillers from another generator that should be able to intercept his. However, when I try to plan the move, it doesn't want me to. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like a bug to me. Can you post a screenshot and be a little more specific. Is it just not letting you send the sub?

It wouldn't let me dispatch a sub unless I chose a destination in direct line of the intercept, even though it was days away travel time

Subs will only intercept each other when they are traveling to and from the same bases. If a sub is sent from Hagia to ausich. It will only be intercepted by a sub send from ausich to Hagia. There is one exception. If you have a pirate, you can target other subs without having w direct interception path.
