How the heck do 85 drillers beat 101 drillers?

If you look at these two pictures you'll see that somehow sending 85 drillers to a base that had 101 drillers and the smaller number won.

He even had 6 left over at the end! What just happened here?

He probably had a King specialist. Which allows the player to destroy 1 driller for every 3 drillers he has in the combat. So the sub of 85 would destroy 28 drillers before the combat actually resolves.
