that took an age.
I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as AK-47, is in fact, AKM, or as I've recently taken to calling it, AK plus Stamped Receiver. AK is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning AK system made useful by the stamped receiver, select fire trigger, and long stroke gas piston components comprising a full OS as defined by Kalashnikov.
Many computer users run a modified version of the AK system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of AK which is widely used today is often called AK-74, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the AK system, developed by the Izhmash Plant.
There really is a AK-47, and people are using it, but those initial builds are extremely rare and valuable. AK is the kernel: the system that allocates user force on the trigger to the round in the chamber. The gas system is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Stamped receiver is normally used in combination with the AK operating system: the whole system is basically AK with a stamped receiver, or AK/stamped receiver. All the so-called AK-47 distributions are really distributions of AK/stamped receiver!
There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others.
