Just finished my 200th game, with picture to prove.
And I still have 40% of them missing from the Past Games tab...

  • Yeah! It's crazy to think after almost 1 year the most games is just hitting 200. Congrats.

  • I have like 30 games down.

You'd think that after 200 games this guy would be the ultimate strategist...

  • 200? So you played about 5+ games at a time, and that for almost a year? You, man, have my highest respect.

So to you Subterfuge veterans: I recently started playing this game and it pretty amazing, but does it get boring at some point? When you learned all the game mechanics, optimized your strategies and found out all those tactical combinations, is there still reason to stick with this game?

I'm asking because I have played many strategy games and most of them lose their strategic factor at some point. After a certain amound of games the players will find the optimal strategies and use them over and over again. Once everyone uses this meta it just comes down to luck, the game becomes repetitive and boring.

I sincerely hope that this is not the case with subterfuge, but I noticed that i.e. hiring certain specialists (hypnotist, smuggler, navigator) in every single game is almost a necessity if you want to win.

That is why I wanted to ask: Does this game have enough diversity to remain interesting even after 50+ games?
I've only played this game casually yet, but if it really is as great of a strategy game as it seems, I might want to start investing some time into it.

  • It can stay interesting longer than other strategy games because of random things like spec hires. Sure there are better combinations but you don't always get lucky enough to get them. Then you have to improvise with the specialists you do get. This is different from a game like chess where you always the same pieces. Every time you play subterfuge he pieces are different. It keeps each game very interesting.

    Except I'm not :?
Probably because I don't really try, I just kinda play for fun, for the heck of it.

Yes. It really does. Because, like Aclo said, the specs change and are always new. Also, I really enjoy the people. Every game brings new experiences, new chars, new everything. I've been here almost a year now, and I still love it as much as the first day, if not more
