I will be out for a month, so unless someone wants to take charge for a round, ESG09 will be postponed till August.
Anyone who has previously played is welcome to set it up; I recommend copying styles for previous setups, but feel free to do it another way.

Obviously this post postponement was a tad longer than intended (by almost 5 months), but I am now accepting ideas for ESG 09.
To people unfamiliar with the series: Not a tournament in the sense places matter as first priority, rather, as "Experimental Series Game," where we force certain changes to the game (and all players swear to abide by them or risk banishment) to see how gameplay, along with strategy and diplomacy, changes. Browse through the forums for old examples (there are 8).
As always, if you like and idea and want to endorse it, just quote their idea's title in your own comment. Most endorsed ideas are presented for the voting stage, which will be posted in a new thread later.
Expected start of game is ~7 days (I got to get back in the swing of things)
If participation exceeds 10 people, a 2nd game is formed with the 2nd most endorsed idea (or the same 1st idea if voted on accordingly)
Here's my idea to start off with (take note of the format):
"In Equal Measure"
Description: Within 10 minutes of any sub leaving, match the driller amount and send it as a gift to another player. If you cannot match the force, you may not launch that sub. If you intend to gift someone drillers, you must also attack someone else with the same amount. Does not apply to specialists.
Effect: Forces player to form a strong bond with an ally, as well as alerting the enemy that you just lost an equal amount to your attack. Makes larger attacks difficult to assemble, encouraging teamwork to assemble a large force together.

I just looked at ESG8 and I noticed that the idea "True Winner" is almost exactly what I had as an idea for a game and could be used for ESG9 instead. Here's my thread:

Panda's idea seems really deep and really difficult.

Here's my idea: Bazzar at Sea

Domination. 10 players, two of which are merchants at the bazaar, while the remaining 8 are war lords seeking resources from the merchants. The merchants will be on opposite sides of the map to create balance. Only the merchants are allowed to hire specialists, and for each hire must auction it off to all the War lords. The war lords can only acquire specs through the action system below.

Auction rules: Say I'm a merchant. I list my hires off as soon as I see what I have. Everyone else has the time until the spec is available for hire to make a bid. The merchant picks the best offer, in his opinion. And gifts it to the winners closest base You cannot intercept the spec gift with a pirate, or take the base it is going to while it's en route. Normal players can promote as they wish.

The merchants must sit at their 5 starting bases, plus the dormants they take. Bases will be allocated so everyone has 10, or as close to even as I can make it.

I shall be a merchant, along with a volunteer.(or whoever is on the opposite side of me)

Feedback is appreciated.

I love your idea, Nojo. I'll be a merchant too if we do that, and I hope we do. Can I just confirm the merchants do not participate in war?
