I would enjoy an opportunity to partake in these games and am a member of discord in the name of this account. Please advise so I may follow suit.

Hey man, making a discord account is not 100% necessary to join this game. I don't use mine, and I still am able to play. Just watch the forums on this thread, and someone will post a link to the game when it starts. Gotta be fairly quick though, the games fill fast sometimes

I think it's just a background that's the same for all games. I could try and check through a few games but it really just looks all the same to me.
I checked the map with a friend who was playing the same game, and the contours are the same. Hopefully it's the same for all games.
