i haven't tried it yet (should be ready to later today), but I think the basic principle is that there are 3 levels of touch.
1. Regular tap to select
2. Push a bit for another feature
3. Push more for a 3rd feature
I'm sure there are more creative things then the following to do, but the first things that come to mind are the following. these suggested functions will depend on if you have to cycle through stage 2 or can go straight to stage 3 or not. (all of these assume the regular tap remains as is)
If the stage 2 click can be used to pop up a menu...
On another players base
2. Pop up context menu (thinking of a circle in sections/quadrants)
3. Select one: send a message, view player info/notes, jump to production
On your own base
2. Pop up context menu
3. Select one: jump to production, ???
On a moving sub
2. Pop up context menu
3. Select One: jump to arrival, jump back to launch, see combat results
On the transfer driller dial
2. 50%
3. 100%
On a time machine future order
2. jump to arrival
3. cancel order
On the time machine scrub dial
2. ?
On a queen
2. jump to new hire
2. ?
on a specialist
2. view promotion details
3. promote
If a stage 2 click can't be used to pop up a menu... Some could still work, but otherwise...

I'm sure there are better and more useful ideas... but these are the first to come to mind for me.
