Game mode suggestion "Space Race"

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Unlike a normal omni-directional scrolling map, all players start at the left edge of the map with two outposts' distance buffering each starting outpost.
The map can scroll up and down infinitely so that the last player is above the first player.
There are outposts evenly dispersed throughout the map, with a single row of mines at the right edge of map (there is about a 5 outpost distance and each distance is 2 outposts wide, so in an 8 player game, 80 outposts in between the starting line and ending line, for a total of 96 outposts). All the outposts are set up in a repeating factory-generator pattern, so everyone has an equal chance, so diplomacy is key.
The mines at the edge of the map are pre-loaded with 200 drillers each, which you must defeat to capture the mine.
Obviously, players cannot build their own mines.
The goal is to be able to race to the right side of the map and capture the outposts there, all the while fighting the 7 other players, to maintain and reach the 200 NP goal.

Please leave feedback or any clarifying questions.

Sample diagram. The outposts will not be that uniform (I just copy-pasted them), but will look somewhat like this.

  • I like the cool triangles and the fact that all the colours are there. Tan looks rather cosmic latte.

  • I like this idea a lot. Im curious how diplomacy would work, In a normal game you have so many people to worry about, but this looks like its implied you may only have two people to worry about?

  • Oooh. I like this idea. Diplomacy is big here and speed specs key. As always, panda has great ideas. I wonder if we can simulate this in a normal match.....?

The biggest problem is, how do you make neutral mines?

We play in a 9 person game. 8 real players and a single moderator. He creates the neccasary mines.

  • One more problem: the map that panda wants to use is a cylinderical map. The map we are currently using is a torus map. So?

I mean we could just make it you're not allowed to go through an imaginary line which has been drawn down the middle somewhere, even though the mines would be right next to you hahahah!
