    Bouncer

    • Type: Defensive

    • Global Effect: Whenever a base is defending against a sub with a speed boost, the base's shields are multiplied by the opposing subs speed multiplier.

    • Local Effect: None

    • Stacking: Yes

    • Flavor Text: Take time for all things: great haste makes great waste.

    I came up with this when I was reading about Silverberg's poor admiral incident in the questions section, and I realized there is no direct way of stopping speed specialist. This would be a one hire specialist that seems pretty balanced.

    An example of his global effect would be:
    If your opponent has an admiral and is attacking with a sub with 1.5x speed, whichever base he attacks shield would be multiplied by 1.5
    So 20 shield ---> 30 shield & 15 shield ---> 23 shield (if you round up)
    If your opponent has a helmsman for 2x speed then all that bases shield is multiplied by 2.
    20 shield ---> 40 shield & 15 shield ---> 30 shield

    This specialist would be a little situational, but I think provides a decent counter against speed specs. Additionally, a bouncer is only as strong as the opponent is. So someone stacking admirals would also be making your bouncer more powerful. Plus, I imagine someone running really fast just slamming into a brick wall. The faster you ram yourself into the brick wall, the more it will hurt.

    That is why you are amazing.

    In all honesty I feel like the bouncer is really balanced, maybe he should be promoted from the Inspector tech tree style?

  • This is a pretty good idea. Would it be the current charge of the outpost, or it fully charges inspector-style on every battle. Cause that would be very OP. I'm guessing it would just be on whatever shield you've currently got.

    An a different note,

    This screwed me up for quite some time. My natural progression of thinking was the you start with 20 shield and ended with 23 in the first one, and I was about to freak out on your for your mathematical error... Until I realized they were 2 totally different equations. So, I'll give you the MathWhiz seal of approval on your math.

    And, again, nice idea.

    The bouncer would only take your current charge. So he would be devastating if paired with an inspector. Otherwise, he just does his job.
