  • Hi guys,

Have been playing infrequently for about a year but I'll link to one of my favourite moments so far.
Even though I've won the majority of my games my favourite moment is from a game where I finished 3rd.
The whole game is shown here, the move itself is just after the 6 minute mark.

    Cliff notes:
Player gets great start - early admiral, taking over lots of land, gets gifted a 2nd admiral along with lots of other specialists... is dominating the game and eventually turns against me (as expected).
I retreat and use a king, thief, engineer, pirate to keep me alive before making a huge hail mary move on the attacker's queen which is pulled off... unfortunately he gifts practically everything to another player, drops shields on his mines for that player to take and I don't have enough time to take him down (and the other remaining player did nothing to help).

  • Wow just wow. What a game for the record books. I'd love to play a game with you, sounds like you know your stuff.

  • That is quite fortunate for you to be able to get him like that. The queen mechanic is definitely interesting. Nice recap.

  • I've only played 10 games, all of them being 8+ player games, first to 200 nept (except for 1 which was a 6 player game) but have won 7 of them, two 3rd places and once eliminated (targeted early by multiple people, took a risk to keep myself in the game which didn't pay off).
    So doing pretty good.

Actually my other 3rd place finish was a great game too, I prob should make a video at some point - Niverio won that one, I see he commented on this thread earlier. I ended up with a npt mining rate of 189/day which had me tantalisingly close to snatching 2nd place... I have wondered whether that is some sort of record for a losing end game mining rate.

I only play one game at a time, and generally have about a month off between games, I like to focus completely on it...

  • There was a records thread a long....long.....long time ago. Roady probably created it. He had all good threads :( poor guy.....but yeah, my record was pretty similar, I won my first 4 games with a bronze in the fifth. Although since I'm still L1, I am told I'm really horrible because L1 games are for newbs. Oh well...

it really was complete luck.. why he chose to move a queen on a long range journey like that is anyone's guess... cost him the game.
Also, if I hadn't been there right at the moment he sent it, it would've been lost in the fog and I wouldn't have been able to lock onto it with the pirate.
