  • I got inspiration from the list for good players. This is for backstabber who do not hold on agreements.

    LIST:

Just post below. Also try to explain what exactly type of backstabbing/stuff they did.

If anyone is able to help me with the list and seeing if peoples list suggestions are ture please PM me so we can make this a great list

  • UMPUSTEN:

He sometimes disagrees with other player’s choices and does not play like they would like him to.

Also he thinks that every outpost is his to take and only tolerates others to occupy it.

I do not think that this is a good thread! If someone dose stab you in the back make a note not to trust him so far in the next game. But don’t go ahead and try to talk him bad in the forum… He will learn that this is not the way to go sooner or later anyhow.

  • yeah, i dont see the use of these threads. everyone is gonna make friends and enemies in this game, trying to keep track of everyone who has ever helped or betrayed anyone is pointless. just because someone was friendly towards you in one game doesn't mean they won't betray another player or vice-versa. i know there are plenty of players that would put me in either list.

besides, this game would be a lot less interesting if people never betrayed each other.

if we're gonna put players on a list it would be better to start a list of players who either resign frequently/early or break the code of conduct.

I agree. I think backstabbing is part of the game. I already thought the thread about the good players wasn#t a good idea, but I think this pillory here is even worse. Just because I played honest in one game doesn't mean I am honest in the next. I could even backstab a player in one game with whom I had a good alliance in a past. It just depends on the situation. The goal is to win the game, if this means you have to break an alliance then this is the game. And there will be players who post names of other players here just because they feel betrayed, even if there weren't.

    +1.

People are allowed to have their strategies. If you think someone is breaking the rules in some way, contact the devs. If they're just not honoring your agreement in-game, that's part of the fun. Actually, they might belong on the list of GOOD players, because they were able to outsmart you. (Not that I'm a fan of keeping such a public list either.)

Find a way to be smarter than them and beat them in-game! ;)

  • I've played in games where I've gone back on agreements and I've played games with players who played a very trust-worthy game in one and then not so much in another.

It's all part of the game.

Now, some steps to help mitigate somebody backstabbing you:

When I make an agreement with another player, I almost always ask for a demilitarized border. This way, if they plan to backstab you, you have some time to react to subs moving back towards you.

Keep your communication and chatter going. I'm generally very open with my movements, plans, and what I'm thinking with people I'm allied with. This humanizes you and also gives your ally a chance to share details on what their thinking. Warning signs can go off if they become less social in the game.

To show trust, I usually make the first move, but I always have it planned so if they move counter to the agreed movements, then I have an opportunity to respond before I'm all in on whatever movements we agreed too.

  • Backstabbing is inevitable and part of the game. Just watch the game trailer!

What is worse is people that take a game WAY too personal!

  • Yep, I agree. Backstabbing is part of the game. The list I started for good players is just a list for players who are engaged in the game. Whether they make or break alliances makes no matter. I started that list simply because I was tired of people playing a few turns and quitting, or people who quit the first time they lose drillers.

I'm glad someone pointed that out, haha. Turning allies against each other is half the fun!
