  • So I made a list of my specialist hires, counted them all and found the probability of me hiring a certain specialist over any other specialist. After 250 hires, these are the results.

  • Woooooow. Admiral is waaaay too low. And Nav is surprisingly low for how often you hire Pirate.

  • That's actually a really good idea, analyzing my own games like this could be beneficial.

  • That is very interesting, i may do something like this for my games as well. Thus might take some time as I got a feeling I had quite a bit of hires.

    Of course it's a nice comparson but it is also very situational. I don't usually hire a pirate unless I can get a navigator and I get those two usually when I'm attempting to do queen hunting. But I guess it would sort of show you what kind of game play you prefer. Check back in about a day to see if I can get my post up with my numbers. I encourage others to do it as well, I think this may be useful to the devs to see which specialists are the nerdy ones not getting 1st pick for teams. I would think that it would indicate that they may not be very useful.

    Btw, i rarely get the war hero, and not because his abilities are bad or he is under powered but because the sentries defensive abilities are so powerful, i think the war hero would need to be a promotion from another specialist, and shouldn't be with the sentry. The only time I use his promotion is if I got some large number of subs heading my way and I got a sentry there, i like to pet the sentry whittle down the subs and the upgrade to war hero just before they arrive and kill another 20 subs, it pisses people off for sure lol

    I think your reason for promoting to war hero is exactly why it is great for Sentry to be the one who promotes to it...

    The lowly artillery gunner firing at the massive swarm of incoming subs stands at their post when all seems lost, then with some amazing heroics stems the tide of battle and becomes the champion that saved the outpost. As their reputation spreads, they then accompany drillers to take the fight back to those that dared to attack the homeland and as battles are won, the legend is born...

  • Haha i like your intricate story line there. It is fun to use tricks like that.

    btw, it is going to take a long time to do the specialist hire quantities for me....

  • To create this I used excel, typed in the name of all my specialist hires in a set area of cells (rows A-Z) then I used the =COUNTIF(range,value) function to tally each time a specialist appears in the list so:

    AA
    1. =COUNTIF(A1:Z900,sentry)
    2. =COUNTIF(A1:Z900,lieutenant)..... Etc.

    Then I auto summed that column to get total hired and divided each one by the total to find the probability of hiring it in a game

    Took me about 1hour to go through all my
    Previous games (22 games) but it was worth it as I clearly see that my specialist hires can be wayyy better chosen.

  • The way I see it, the actual promotion for the sentry is a princess. A sentry + princess costs just as many promotions as a war hero but you keep what makes the sentry so good while amplifying its power. Plus, you can stack even more sentries and princesses on the base for mass destruction!
    Zyxe? Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.

  • Yeah, I got the excell sheet set up, thay was the easy part, it's going through all the games thay a pain in the rear. I'm just going into each one and reversing the time and counting as I fast forward. Please tell me if there is a faster way, I'm through about a third of my games.

    As for the promotion, i agree that maybe sentry to princess would be a better choice, higher range if we keep the sentry bonus, and makes the princess a little more useful. I honestly rarely get a princess, if you are losing an outpost with your queen you are in big trouble, doubt a princess can save you. Obviously there are situations where it's helpful to have a princess but I honestly only use her to increase the range of sentry.
