on paper it's a good idea, enforcement would still be an issue I feel, but it'd be the best you could do. Plus it'd keep a limit on the number of tournaments happening at one time, and also add some uniformity.

Enforcement? Of awarding Titles? I don't really see what would need to be enforced here. Tournaments that don't want to become an official tournament (which means no Titles) don't have to go through the acceptance process.

when I say "enforce" what I mean is someone mentioned how it's hard to get everyone into a game on time. That couldn't be enforced any better by a committee. that's all I meant.

Oh right I see what you're getting at....
I mean, STOC would work better as Subterfuge gets more popular...

  • I dont think this level of beauracracy is really necessary. And keeping track of titles sounds like a pain.

It seems to me like most of the dificulties arising with tournaments stem from commitment of individual entrants, such as players signing up and then never joining.

  • Should we make a list of interested people?

I am interested in being a part of the committee

Should we draft a constitution for the committee and have a policy? I feel like ther should be some governing document for what constitutes cheating, or what allows a member to be eligible for the committee weighed the committee is free for anyone to join, if members are appointed vs. elected by the people of subterfuge, or other things

  • Hahahaha what I find really interesting right now is the two types of people, either people who think the idea is too complicated, or people who are enthusiastically into this idea. Of course I'm part of the latter...
Anyway, thats besides the point. And of course I do understand that right now is probably not the best time to suggest such a committee because more people will think its too complicated....but I see subterfuge in a different way to other mobile games, and more like games such as chess. Basically, I see Subterfuge having the potential to become a game among many thinkers who don't know about this game yet, a game which will grow into and be recognised by many people. The sooner we start these ideas made for larger audiences, the easier it will become to implement these in the future.

  • The reason I like the idea is because I am on a student society in my college and we have policy and meetings and all this stuff so I feel like this really touches base with me :3 and +1 to that! I like having the committee exist so that future players don't have to worry about such a thing and can enjoy the community and get involved where they see fit

  • Rules, format, guidelines (that are final but are just guidelines so can be deviated from as much as the committee might like), manage, requirements, acceptance process, constitution, policy, meetings...

What problem are we solving again?

I think we should focus our attention on being a welcoming community with a low entry barrier.

Good question....well we're not really solving any problem (except for maybe tournament management), and of course, everything I posted earlier is still up for revision....
I guess its not that we're solving a problem, its that we're making something better (in my opinion anyway). Good players will be recognised as good players. Some people with a high rating on the leaderboards may not be able to prove themselves all that good. Basically I thought, seeing as there's already a rating system, why not just take it one step further and have a Title system (the inspiration was from chess titles)... Yes there's more work for the Devs (sorry :P) , but it will certainly add a new level of achievement and excitement to the game...

Theoretically, we could just make this simpler by having a thread to honor past victors, right? Obviously it's not an in-game title, but it is *way* faster and easier.

But which tournaments would we classify as being worthy of honor? Either there could be a general consensus that the tournament is a legitimate one or to save time we could go with STOC. Also it makes things a bit more 'official' than just a player kept 'record' of past victors
