I thought you were just gathering a pool of people to host tournaments.

I believe the harshness of any restriction should be based off of the reasoning behind it. Here, that reasoning is mostly for the logistical purposes.

I also believe if you really enjoy this game (or any other indie game that isn't riddled with IAP) you should pay for it. It's no secret that this game has yet to make any money. At least according to the last blog post. If as a player base we don't support it, its only a matter of time before the devs quit supporting it.

I am lvl 1, and I am very dedicated to this game (as you can see from my number of posts). However the only reason I cant get lvl 2 is because I don't have the ability to buy things on the app store (my parents control that)
If I could buy things on the app store then I would certainly buy this!!

  • tw2000. Why don't you just ask them to pay for it and give them $12? Or do you not have any way to get money? It could be a christmas present?

Since most of dedicated players are l2, most people will vote for l2 only. This poll is very biased imo. Here's my point of view on this. You know not everyone can buy a rank. If you cant or dont buy something its doesnt mean you are not dedicated to it, it simply means that you dont have money for this. If you want games of l2 that join super fast : go ahead. But whats cool with these tournaments is that everyone can join. Whether youre a pro or a newbie, those are supposed to be made for fun and so EVERYONE can join and enjoy it, as a friendly competitive game. Not letting everyone join would make the tournaments lose this friendly and casual aspect.

No one is voting on anything. It's purely for research.

Limiting a tournament to L2 for the sake of speeding up how long it takes for players to join a game isn't the only reason. Personally, I think players should have at least 10 days to join a game. It's times a lot of time to organize these things and having short joining times means that players miss out and games either have to be reorganized which is a huge hassle. Or they start with fewer players than they are supposed to, which is no fun. And given that the average game takes 12 days to finish, I'm not sure why there are so many complaints about tournament start times.

However, the main reason why I would like to limit a future tournament to L2's only is so everyone can play up 4 games played in a month. Everyone could start out playing two games, then 14 days later the next two games could start. This would increase the number of games that could be played, and drastically cut down the timespan of future tournaments.

I'm l1, but that actually sounds like a really good idea. Obviously, you'd have to have l1 specific tournaments as well, but I'd be happy to set one up if need be. But for those who want higher game concentration, so tournaments don't take a month that'd be ok with me.

And that He died for me.

  • The replies to this post are very narrow minded.
There are a lot of people that simply cannot buy L2 and you guys must understand that.

You're making sound so simple to just blow $12 on a game, when in reality a lot of players simply can't do that. Yes it's not expensive and it might seem so trivial to you, but it's not that easy when your parents aren't as normal as you assume.

  • blanc, I feel like you haven't taken into account the fact that a lot of people who play subterfuge aren't kids and are not affected by their parents. Older players may prefer to play only with other L2 in tournaments because it can be more competitive. In general I would say that L2's are more dedicated, and probably older. Obviously that isn't always the case, but I've stopped playing games with L1's because 9/10 times at least 1 person resigns, normally more.
