Really can't blame them if it's non-profitable. I see so many people playing at L1, it's a real shame. Of course, no idea if they convert to L2 but if the game is non-profitable then it can't be a high number.

  • I completely understand if the game is not making a profit. I also would completely understand if the devs want to move onto a different project. However, I would like them to at least tell us that they are leaving the game. That way we don't have to sit in limbo, wondering what the fate of the game is.

  • I agree with chewy, if they are leaving, it would be nice to have some kind of notice, parting words, assurances the servers will stay up, etc.

I wonder exactly how true this really is. Yes, most of us have seen the chart where we see how much money the game failed to earn...

But that production money is already spent. Now 95% of the work is done, and that 5% is what can be added in updates. That 5% is also where the money is made. Do you think free MOBAs that made all their money at release? Hell no. They make it by releasing new skins and other bullshit that takes an artist like 1 day to make.

We keep BEGGING the devs to sell us stuff so we can fill their pockets with cash and they in turn can keep supporting the game. Instead they keeping trying to add value to L2 which was too good of a value in the first place.

Outwitters made this same exact mistake. They only thing they ever really sold were other teams, including a (too good of a value) deal which bundled both the existing teams AND all future teams. So people either never paid and played the 1 default team, or they bought the team bundle for a ridiculously low price and never had anything else to buy. Surprise surprise, the game collapsed because it wasnt making money.

Its like they spent all this money on a cow. Then when the cow was standing in front of them, they milked it one time and got 1 cup of milk out of it. That 1 cup of milk didnt come anywhere near close enough to cover the cost of the cow, so they slowly start walking away from the cow, wondering why such an awesome cow was such a poor investment. And as they tip-toe away, the cow is BEGGING to be milked again.

We are begging to be milked. (just don't butcher us by going pay-to-win)

  • hey everyone, sorry for the long radio silence. we've both taken a much needed vacation after 3.5 years of work on subterfuge, and we're just getting back into things.

it is true, this game isn't doing well financially. if you want more details you can read here: http://blog.subterfuge-game.com/post/13 ... the-future

as a result, we've decided to move on to other projects, BUT, there will be another update coming with fixes for some unsightly bugs, renaming the negative medals to "you made me angry" so that they're not such a stain, and adding medal purchasing to android. expect that within about a month.

  • Thank you Ron. We all love Subterfuge, it's really sad to hear that the game is not earning what it deserves! Good luck! I wish you all the best!

  • I got a subterfuge t shirt for xmas. I wear it with pride.
    This game is absolutely wonderful.
I do wonder whether it is something that could be ported to pc/Mac/Facebook etc fairly easily. It's the kind of thing those dudes could have running along in the background while they are tweeting at work. Just an idea. I would hate to see the game wither away if there is a chance it could be developed by other means. I've played literally hundreds of iOS games and this is one of only a handful I have played for any length of time. The rest of those have gradually disappeared one way or another. The only other survivor on my iPad at present is vainglory, which is a totally different kind of experience.

  • So much for "we are far from giving up on it" in that blog post in November.
