  • Count me in - I am back to 1400+ these days, would prefer to be called Mentor rather than King ;)

I don't want to take any wind out of your sail or make this about who's good at the game or not. Maybe youre the best player who's ever played. The point is that we dont know, because rating is ultimately the best determiner of whether or not what you are doing is consistently working.

And on your second point about this being about a good experience, thats not quite accurate. The idea is to expose new players to high level play, and try to teach them some things so they can have a better understanding of the game. Yes, hopefully its also a good experience, but its also about teaching game skills.

If this works, we can think of ways to make it more inclusive next time, but for now I want to try it with proven rated people, and semi-new L1s.

  • Good luck with this. Hopefully you'll start cultivating some new players. =)

  • This is a great idea. I'd be into it if it happens again.

Also to TW: I'm not saying you're a bad player—from what I have gleaned from your posts on the forums you understand the game well and are clearly quite skilled, BUT... medals don't necessarily mean a whole lot (at least to me.) I hardly have any compared to other players around my ranking, though I have managed to stave off eliminations and finish mid range for a lot of my games. I've seen many a player coast to a victory because things worked out in their favor. Playing high ranked games against high ranked players and strategies is what sharpens players.

  • I am in the view that we should post the questions/suggestions regarding the game here rather than ingame. It would help for future games based on the same template. KevlarGolem should have the final say regarding any question/suggestion to avoid lengthy discussions.

    Here are my initial ones:

    - how would pairing be established?
    - the Knights should advice their Squire, not patronize him/her
    - as this is a casual game, Knights should not only focus on their Squire but provide advice to all of them

  • Arg, sorry guys I totally blew it on hosting the game. Like 3 joined in like a 10 minute window and I didn't have time to kick them before the game started. Big apologies to Vext and Road!

Basically where we are now, we got me, mono, and bangers properly paired with L1 squires. A player named Turnout who I didn't get a chance to kick had rating of 1360 so we went ahead and made him a knight and paired him with an L1. Then 2 players named Capt. Crunch berry and Voxian are L2s with a good number of games played but sub-1200 ratings, we put them on an oddball team together.

edit-- actually Turnout's squire is L2 also, but does have the lowest rating, so kinda fills the role of an L1. Lol, wish there was a way a host could keep the game from starting till ready. Next time I'll just kick everyone until all Knights have joined.

Ok sure I get it, just don't forget about me okay?
oh and btw, didn't we agree that the rating system wasn't quite accurate?

  • I expected something like this might happen. I have played with turnout and Captain Crunch Berry before, so that is interesting. Good luck.

  • Don't worry about it. And I've played with Turnout before: He knows his stuff.
