And here I was thinking that the game would be more peaceful than usual because people knew that it was being recorded.
Very interested to see if TheUnloginable realises the threat to his Queen with the King Upgrade. I don't think I would and would probably stay and fight in defiance and regret it later.
And the early mine from Fate is very interesting. He's certainly playing a different variant of game from our latest encounters. Interesting to see if the change will work for him with his reputation.
Day 3 was certainly full of excitement. I certainly understand how RoadKiehl feels after his plan worked. There is something about the speed of this game that makes it so much more exciting when you watch a sub en route for hours and it pays off after you have calculated so many things that your opponent could do to stop it from working. But as I said, there would be few that would have predicted the king promotion being used so effectively. I can guarantee more people will be watching out for it now!
KeyLime is in a very interesting position and I feel he needs to dedicate himself to one side or the other soon or risk being stuck at his current size and having no chance to medal once the mine race kicks into gear. From where is it sitting it looks like a 3v2 but when you consider the sacrifices that Pmoney has made in terms of gifting specialists I think the 2 teams are pretty even.
Pmoney certainly has a lot of faith in his allies. Gifting so many specialists like that...
And something that I found odd was that when they combined the pirate/navigator/assassin they didn't add any drillers to the sub. Sure, it would still have killed his queen but then you would have had to go and rescue the specialists from an outpost somewhere. It also meant they couldn't use the sub to intercept other subs on their way to get the queen.
That king promotion is always bitter sweet but tends to help more than hurt. I always have trouble choosing my specialists after kinging. Do I go for another king? I don't think I'd see the real benefit in gifting the king to someone else especially if they have a lot of drillers already.
It is in interesting game. I do wish there were a few more players in the fog of war fighting other wars. It seems that all of these wars are too closely related.
I've started to be less hesitant promoting to a king. I promoted one about halfway through a game I'm in now, way earlier than I would've dared to lose my shields before. It's helped me a lot more than hurt me. Pairing it with a smuggler or speed specialists helps a ton. The thief is especially good, because the king's ability happens after the thief has stolen 15% of the drillers.
Two kings and two tycoons... Roadkiehl is gonna have a serious advantage soon. PMoney really went all out in supporting his allies, that's probably not gonna end well for him. He might get some token help/funding, but I doubt they get him into the top 3. Those three have definitely cooperated a lot more than the "lets all attack the same player" that I typically see.
