I think this is the easiest and most productive possible way to add a pay feature.

$3: you get to pick your color (as long as it isnt yet taken), and perhaps would have additional options outside the default possibilities.

+1 for Color Blind mode. One of my friends who plays the game with me is Red/Green colorblind and that is a significant challenge to overcome with this game.
