Opinions on the World of Subterfuge?

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

This can easily be demonstrated with a globe.

Thanks for the clarification! I was trying to visualize it, and now understand what was meant.

  • but still the calculation may still be right because the surface area of a torus doesn't represent surface area accurately because as you can see from the gif a few posts ago the outside is more stretched than the inside even though they are all squares to start with

I appreciate the multi-cultural and global representations of the graphic designs for the specialists. However, a few points of thought come to mind, such as:
·There are some disparities in the eras of style: from the queen, martyr, and princess being Elizabethan,(The queen herself resembling an aged, desiccated twin of Elizabeth 1st) to the modernish look of the foreman and engineer. Then everything in between, like the WWII era General, and the Victorian London thief.

      · Are these human(oids) that are in control of the drillers also leaders of other people , i.e. a minority upper/governing class?

      · Are the drillers autonomous or self aware? Are they capable of feeling pain, or are they just a factor of resource and power?

·How can the submarines find their destinations without sonar?→(when a sub is sent to a target outside of your visible range, it has no visible sonar range of its own)

      · Are the promoted specialists older versions of their non-promoted selves?

·What, really, IS the hypnotist: A skilled vagabond? A fallen oligarch? A beguiling hobo? Whatever the case, he's gotten a LOT more Sun exposure than his healthy looking promoted self, the King

    1. The differences in the time periods of the specialists have never really bothered me. I mean, you don't even have queens nowadays and you didn't have engineers back then so...what can you do about it?

    2. This would be an interesting question, only the Devs could actually have an answer by I'm guessing they probably don't, its probably just some random made up world (or 'torus') which has only oceans, so no I don't think they are in control of anything else. (there's nothing else to be in control of)

    3. By the term 'driller' I would think that they are robots or machines which are just a resource. They probably don't feel pain and I certainly don't think they're living so you don't have to feel sorry for them :D

    4. They could just have an extremely small sonar and a GPS system which tells them what direction they're heading and where they're going. You wouldn't be able to see the sonar because at this scale a sub is probably travelling the distance of its very limited sonar every minute or so, and if you zoom in as much as you can that's probably still not enough to get anywhere near the scale you need to be at to be able to see their sonar.

    5. And although the term 'promote' certainly does suggest that they are one person, I think that from the pictures of the hypnotist vs king and other things that this is certainly not the case. They are probably actually 'swapped' for someone else, although this wouldn't make sense. Maybe they now have to resources to pay for someone who requires twice the salary, and so they have to fire the original person, but they can't get the promoted person without the original person because only the original person knows a willing promoted person? I have no idea....

  • I can, using some creative leeway, see each of the specialists growing older as they get promoted. The onlyexceptions, and I think this may be important, are the two "monarch" specialists, the princess→queen and hypnotist→king...

  • But hey, that's just a theory, a game theory. Thanks for reading.
My faith has found a resting place,
    Not in device or creed;
    I trust the ever-living One,
His wounds for me shall plead.
    I need no other argument,
    I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me.
