Negative Medals are the worst idea ever. Please reconsider.

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Agreed, get rid of these.

  • I'll add my voice that the toxic and probably the backstabber medals are too harsh.

I will point out though that the medals can't be seen in an anonymous game.

Having said that, I would be happy to see the negative medals changed to a "you made me angry" one, cuz people will understand hey, sometimes things happen and there are winners and ... Not winners.

  • I think that there should be an option to hide medals you don't want seen, but there should also be a statistic for 'number of medals received' so that if a player wanted, he could find out how many a player has hidden, which may not necessarily be 'toxic' or other ones etc.

  • Perhaps it’s better for everyone to assume that the medals shouldn’t be taken literally. What’s to stop friends giving each other “Trustworthy Ally” medals when they fully intend to betray their allies anyway?

Click on a player's outpost, then click on the little white button in the top right corner of the screen. That will take you to a player's profile. There's a big "give medal" button there.

  • Hello, I read though everything and I would like to argue Devil's advocate. Though the idea of medals is a new concept to me in gaming- The closest thing I've come to is a badge of honor for postitve attitude.

I would like us to consider the medals as a way of rating other players for their game play and manners, as well as a way to influence player behavior in a positive way.

This system will take time to emerge, just like your wins and losses. Just as a 2 silver medals in your first 3 games don't necessarily dictate that your a good player, a single poop medal might understandably be from a raging player- and I believe people will come to understand that a single poop medal isn't ground to assume that player is indeed toxic (It may make you aware when talking to him to pick up signs if he is indeed toxic)

But as you play more games and acquire more wins or losses your skill at the game becomes more apparent. whether you place 20/30 games or 2/30- this says alot more about your skill than the 2/3. I believe medals will work similarly.

I believe the people in this community are smarter, patient and more sincere than a ton of other communities- I have yet to see a real flame war. And so I am believe trolls and ragers to be a bit or an outlyer.
That one poop medal from an angry kid will be outshone greatly by 2 medals of positive intent. And as more and more games are played, and your not toxic or negative, people will be more able to see your character.

Negative medals will help take some work from the devs on investigating abusive players and allow a clear marker for hosts to filter out those offending players. If they want to rid themselves of that image they better be willing to shell out another 10 bucks.

Perhaps the backstabbing medal is a little revealing on your play style, but perhaps this might encourage "gentlemanly backstabbing"- Backstabbing without gloating or snide remarks, with even a bit or respect. Being polite goes a long way- how you text is the only other facet that others have to see who you are besides your actions.

We play this game for a few reasons- to feel clever, satisfy that God complex we all have a bit of, or for the sake of competition. But overall I believe a salty and calloused individual can sour this week long experience.

I just think we should give these medals a little bit of time- Like our game records- to truly judge if it is a bad idea or not.
It could be a fantastic tool to weed out unpleasant players and improve or maintain the health of this awesome community- Or a tool for trolls to aggravate players. I hope the first- we have a pretty intelligent group of people here. I don't think the cost for reporting bad players should be raised- not yet I suppose.

    Thanks for Reading

  • If I had the money, I would give everyone here complaining about the toxic medal, a toxic medal, just for the giggles.

Instead, I'll have to selectively choose.
