Despite how chaotic the start to this game was, I'm pretty happy with how it's unfolded so far. We didnt have any quitters, and the balance seems to be pretty good. I'm hoping to do a video recap and show how it went once its over.
For next game Im thinking:
-Dropping the knight rating requirement down to 1350.
-Keep kicking random joiners until ALL knights have joined first.
-Pairing should be established primarily by border closeness. But also look at the forest rather than the trees and look for common sense global problems that might arise.
-Not only should knights advise their squire, but also ALL squires, because knights often dont have vision over their squire's entire territory. If it's someone youre at war with, you could wait till after the battle to tell them, but still tell them (or actively tell them how to beat you, it's your call).
-I recommend vision enhancing specialists for knights as the more you can see, the more you can give advice on. Now I'm not saying you should always take a Int Off over something like a smuggler, but at least move it (and princess) up a little on your priority list.
-Try to actively include your squire in diplomatic conversations (using group chats), even if the diplomacy won't directly effect them. Also keep your squire in the conversation about WHY you make the diplomatic decisions that you do, and try to include them in the decision making process.
-Don't be afraid to fight other squires as you would anyone else, as combat is often learned by watching an opponent do things. But see the suggestion above about teaching enemy squires. Also as a knight, don't deliberately go out of your way to target other squires as easy prey (hopefully doesn't need to be said).
(thanks mono for the notes)
@tw: I've been thinking about your unique situation also. Part of the objective with this game mode was to encourage L1s to buy L2. SO if you buy L2, I will make a rating exception for you and take it on faith that you could make it to 1350.
