Willing to setup a Tournament...

  • To achieve the aim of having no one play the same opponents in round 1 as in round 2 (very sensible) you need to have a structure such as this

Round 1 - 6 games of X top 3 progress (X depends on number of applicants)

    Round 2 - 3 games of 6 - top 3 progress

    Round 3 - 1 game of 9

Key point is that you need to have the same number of games in round 2 as qualifiers per round in round 1.

Would also make sense to create a google doc with the groups / results in it.

    Oh and I'm in

  • Would we want to broadcast the last game? Keep the eliminated players interested?
We could just put the videos on the forum.

  • Broadcasting games live changes the dynamics - as if your playing you can then watch the videos to get Intel you wouldn't otherwise have had! Suggest better to record and then publish once the game is over?

  • Well, we could do it on the honor system. That's how Ron did it in the official broadcast game

  • But of course, publishing afterwards doesn't have too big an impact. I just wouldn't want to watch 8 fifteen minute recap videos. Give me 8 one minute commentaries on the "last 24 hours"

  • I thought I posted here but it was in another topic about a tournament I guess. I'd like to join as well. :)

  • I'm in. I would like to cover the entire tournament (newscaster style), and am very interested in more of these organized events happening.

The main problem I can see would be making the games visible to all players. Doesn't the "open games" panel only display games on your server?

Or would you make them private games?

  • What should this tournament be called?
Actually, now that I think about it, in the future there should be a 'tournaments' page for all user organised tournaments, that would be cool :)
