I'm in this game. You sent a sub of 288 drillers, a general, a engineer, and a pirate towards his base. He ended up having a double agent.

He's not unstoppable. He's hanging by a thread.

Don't believe me? Look at the leaderboard. This is not an elimination game. The winners are determined by points, not in the level of satisfaction you get from seeing the word "eliminated" next to someone's name.

If this was a game of risk and you had the win condition of eliminating that specific player then I'll agree that it might be annoying. But it's not, so your need to eliminate this player is costing you time that could be spent trying to win the game.

It sounds to me like it's the specialists that are giving you grief. Why not let him attack you then? He is forced to pick 3 specialists. Here's that specialist cap you were referring to. Surely if you are stronger then you can rebuke their attack.

Or if you must attack, get a navigator/revered elder/something else combo going and attack him. Negate all of his specialists.

If he has his own revered elder then attack with aa assassin on board. He is forced to keep the revered elder in the battle to save his Queen but in the process renders his other specialists useless.

It's not really known for everyone want to hold hands and get along, add a competitive game to the mix and someone who just beat you back into a corner. I'm amazed there isn't a profanity filter in game.

Nobody is suggesting that you try to bargain a peace deal for the fun of it. The key element to a negotiation is making sure all parties feel like they are gaining something out of it and need your help in doing so.

If he is threatening an outpost then maybe gift it to him and in return ask that he attack somebody else. If he wont change his target away from you then I think the bigger issue is the way that you played the game for the last week to make him feel like that.

In my last game I teamed up with an ally to wipe out another player. When the enemy was down to his last few outposts I opened a conversation with him and said that I would stop attacking him and asked for nothing in return. 24hours later that enemy had moved all of his drillers and specilaists to the one outpost on my border so I asked him what he was thinking about doing and his reply was quite simple: he was going to throw everything at my ally in a last chance of regaining some outposts. I asked him why he was sending them against my ally and not me and his answer was as simple: we had been talking and the other guy was still attacking him. I managed to gain more outposts than my ally but because I didn't feel the need to eliminate him I was able to actually hamper my ally. And then when my ally stabbed me my old enemy was the first to answer my call for aid.

    Diplomacy.

But yeah, many people read "competitive" as having to get into conflicts, while one can compete in many other aspects and still be friendly about it.
I've had many a game where I just compete against another player through mining or funding allies to do the fighting.
And never underestimate the abilities of Specialists! They can quickly turn the tide of any battle.

Well... he didn't "end up" having a double agent. Tan had the option the whole time if Red had checked Tan's hire options.

    Player 1:
    +200 drillers a day
    550 of 700 driller cap

    Player 2:
    +36 drillers a day
    80 of 150 driller cap

    Player 1 can't finish off Player 2

No one has a problem with that?

I don't have a degree in mathematics but I'm having trouble seeing how anyone can argue that this makes sense.

Yeah actually I have a problem with that :D

Firstly, He probably has like 10 specialists there. Typically they go something along the lines of: queen, pirate, minister of energy, security chief, king, princess, sentry, foreman, saboteurs.
So adding everything in we get about 80 shield + 600 electricity output + 44 drillers a day + princess and sentry combo + saboteurs. Note that I am taking the effect of the king into account here. e.g. It would be 450 driller cap, but the king effectively makes that equivalent to 600.

So yeah thats my problem :P

The attacking player would also have just as many specialists, with the advantage of multiple times the production.

I had given up at that point, I launched a total of 150+ drillers with 3 specials at a base with less then 30 drillers and couldn't get through. Still missing the point that a player with 1 base and the same special count can hold off a player 10x his size.

I've explained it's not about eliminating a player if he wants to take his pile of turtle half way across the map and be someone else's headache I couldn't be happier its about eliminating a threat.

grats on being a troll, you are still clueless about game design. turtling has been a problem in almost every single non mine game I've played.
