Negative Medals are the worst idea ever. Please reconsider.

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • I'm not so sure "this player made me angry" is any better. If anything, it creates more distrust through ambiguity. Now you distrust everything they say or do, rather than just looking out for backstabs.

Idk about you, but I do that regardless, haha. If anything, the trustworthy medal interferes more with my ideas of a person than the backstabber medal.

It wouldn't really matter if the idea that you can hide medals is implemented, while also being able to see how many medals someone has received from other players.

  • I just recieved a 'toxic' medal for no good reason aside from spite. I'm respectful to all and don't have a clue why someone gave this to me. I really don't feel I deserve this at all. Anyone who's played with me before willing to give me a good natured medal to balance the lovely turd on my record? Devs, please remove the negative medals or create a free way to make them removable. Perhaps a player that disagrees with the medal can remove it or maybe collecting 5-6 players who disagree would be enough to have it removed.

I won't start any more rated games with this medal.

  • kspace, for now you can play anonymous games, which should hide your medals.

Thats why I never said anything about having anything that keeps tally of your total medals. A hidden medal should be hidden, in all respects.

But that would then be too far. At least a player should be able to find out how many medals has been hidden, (which aren't necessarily bad ones, they could be rather neutral ones) So that, you can only be thought of as 'suspicious' if you have wayyy too many negative medals.

^But this right here is precisely the problem.

A cute little picture of poop... backstab vs. "you made me angry"... the actual words or icon dont matter. Potato potato. You should not be able to publicly taint someone else's account if you are willing to pay enough money.

If we can see how many medals an account has hidden, the account is tainted (because its an easy assumption a person would only hide a negative medal). Same with poop, same with backstab, same with "you made me angry".

Rather than be "pay-to-win", its more like "pay-to-ensure-other-guy-always-loses." Which, if you think about it, is a much darker business model :p

  • Can you give a medal anytime during the game?

What do you think about giving medals only at the end of the game? You know, when the initial rage of betrayal and saltiness has died down a bit, and you have a chance to see the game in retrospect?

Ahhh, that was exactly my point that I was prepared to rebut.
It's not an easy assumption that a person would only hide a negative medal. Not when there are 'slightly negative medals' around (soon hopefully). New medals might just fall under this category, maybe 'doubtful play', or 'you'll regret it', etc. These medals might be the hidden ones but because they are only slightly negative you can't really judge a player by these. Everyone is slightly negative to some player or another.
