  • Can we talk about the rage-quitting for a second? I've never seen it that way, I was a little surprised to hear key lime say he essentially won't play with those players again. I've never done it, but if I was doomed, it seems to make sense to send whatever resources I have left to my allies to help them to the finish. Kind of a weak revenge.

I've seen it happen a bunch of times and it's never bugged me. Just part of the mad dash to gobble up what's left in the wake of an eliminated player. But maybe I'm alone, how does everyone else view it?

  • I found that puzzling: when Unlog was eliminated and sent him gifts, he seemed to have no qualms.
Granted, Road did have a lot more to give.

I don't see it as rage-quitting. Either your stuff is going to be split amongst the players without your control, or you can keep SOME of your resources for your allies. I say some because Braxo ended up snagging a number of those gifts anyway, as well as taking over one of the mines.

  • Fun little show. Glad that there was a number of event changes that made the ending a bit more interesting.

  • Regarding the rage quiting,

In this case, Road and I did have a lot of back and forth in trying to come to some sort of agreement where his Queen would live. As it got closer to elimination time, he would send out more of his specialists as gifts to try and entice me to change my mind. His goal seemed to be that if I didn't take his side - we would both be destroyed and in the 12 or so hours as my pirate ship slowly moved closer he would release more. He gave me one last chance in the final 20 minutes or so. A part of me really wanted to see what four kings could do, the other part of me wanted to remove him as a threat.

There is also the case that Road, Dane, and Pmoney had a really tight alliance where they were sharing resources pretty closely - certainly more shares than I have ever done in an alliance. So, the giving back of those resources could be argued that they were just going back to the original owner.

It was that really really tight alliance that caused me to go through with the elimination - I just couldn't trust Road to work with me especially with the history he built up in the previous 7 days.

After the elimination and the gifts were set, I was at a wedding that night and when I got home, I was practically yelling at Key Lime to start working with Fate and I because it was apparent he didn't receive any gifts from Road. I had thought at that time that Key was actively working with their alliance instead of playing the turtle and appeasing both sides, and my yelling was about why he was allying with a team where he received no benefits.

It turned out that Key was showing a different strategy that is viable for players receiving a certain specialist draw.

Now, I have seen rage quiting where the resources of one player are given to a different player where they had no history in the game or prior alliance, they were essentially just gifted the resources because they were neighbors with the eliminator. That type of rage quitting really tilts the balance of the game and I don't think this was the type of quitting that Road did.

Question though: If Road had a Princess that was out of my sight, would my game predict his elimination still?

Basically, from my point of view, once I hit his Queen, it showed the elimination. But I wasn't sure what would happen if he had a Princess. Would it show the elimination still or would his outposts miraculously survive?

I wasn't sure, so the only time I knew he was going to be eliminated was when he opened up communications with me to try and deal.

  • If the gifting of specialists to your enemies was part of the negotiations to try and spare his queen, that strikes me as the opposite of rage quitting, but actually a solid attempt at diplomacy.

  • As much as I often dislike it, it's a valid part of the game.

It's still manageable. It just really highlights the need to make allies and hope you're on the right side of the battle.

To you it would have shown elimination. However on his time-machice it would have shown his Princess converting to Queen.

It appears I need to go watch some videos. I've only seen Braxo's so far and it was gold!

  • RoadKiehl's day 8 video is priceless. I've done exactly the same thing before and lost a game through an absolutely silly mistake after doing so many things well before it. The scrolling back and forth of the time wheel and the sigh knowing there is nothing you can so to undo what you did.

I agree with Key Lime that rage-quitters can ruin the game for everyone. But I don't believe that this is rage-quitting. A rage-quitter to me is somebody who is upset with something that happens in a game and then gifts everything to their allies and resigns even though they could have kept playing. RoadKiehl wasn't given a choice about the state of his game. He was going to be eliminated unless Braxo decided not to kill him. Considering all the help he had received from his allies there was never any doubt he would try and return the specialists. And with the benefit of hearing both Braxo and RoadKiehl talk about this, we learn that RoadKiehl was slowly gifting specialists and trying to convince Braxo to change his mind about elimination. There is nothing rage-quitting about this.

I agree. I was pretty surprised when watching the match that Keylime was calling him out on it, and now especially after hearing Braxo explain it, Road was simply trying to negotiate with the best bargaining chip he had left, which were his double kings... I personally don't see anything wrong with that.
