  • Discussing the game with 4 players...
I don't think its a good idea to lets this happen again. Everyone realised that making a 3v1 would effectively guarantee the 3 spots to the next round. This makes it too easy for the 3, and too hard for the 1. With only 4 players, its so much easier for advantages at the beginning of the game to last for the rest of the game. Has anyone ever actually played a game with just 4 players in it? In this game right now there's only 1 person with a mine about 4 days into the game, and that person has admitted that building a mine was a bad decision.
Actually, I'm in the situation of being the 1 in the 3v1 right now. I'm down to my last outpost and currently everyone else (except for 1 person whom I managed to form a truce with) is just waiting for reinforcements so they can attack my last outpost. Fortunately for me, my outpost happens to be a factory with strong shields and I also have a king there. But I don't think I will be able to last the rest of the game. I'm just waiting for someone else's queen to be captured before mine does. Hopefully they will just see me as too tanky to attack and attack each other instead.
    Kings aren't OP

This only happens if the players involved let it happen. It is more prone to happen in 6 player (and under) games though. Game 3 would best be described as a 2v2v1v1 which has turned into a 3v2 after a few days.

True, but I was referencing more so as a separate that about player account. As well as in relation to how I set up the tournament. Most games had 6 players. One game had 4. It's just not a fair set up due to having the top 3 move on.

That's no fault of the tournament. That's the fault of the players giving up. With true diplomacy there is ALWAYS a chance and you should never give up until the chance is taken from you via elimination or game end.

Absolutely the fault of the tournament. For example in Game 9, the one I'm in, 3 players immediately made a super strong alliance. They all stuck together even though it wasn't the smartest thing to do. But it worked out because 1 player didn't play at all. Then after a few days another player auto-resigned. I can only guess it's because he didn't want to play from behind.

The way the tournament is set up, it doesn't encourage players to continue playing if they are losing. Thats a major flaw.

The method you chose where 1 person was in charge of every game was the best option. Not much you could do there.

Yeah. It is. For now at least. The problem is finding super reliable game hosts though. Some where great, some where decent, some did whatever they wanted, and some where missing for awhile. But theres really not much I can do there.

A lot of the early signups were the ones that never made it into the games. I guess this was to be expected though. In the end there was realistically only 1 game that didn't get enough players. Maybe this would have been less noticeable in 9 games of 10 players; but then you don't seem to like 10 player games so that would have been an issue.

Yeah, I guess you're right. It's all good. I have ideas for a better set up for future games. ;)
