The game was progressing quite nicely with Connor and I agreeing early that we would form an alliance and work together. I didn't know at this time that Connor had also made this agreement with others as well and was waiting to see which team he would side with. Luckily for me, he chose to honour our agreement and we were cruising to a fairly straight forward top 2 finish with me going to reach 200 neptunium a little bit quicker.

However, Connor took this opportunity to take advantage of his 4 kings(!) and launch an attack at one of my mines. This started a nice war that lasted a few days with us both trying to race towards the finish whilst playing a game of chicken with some our our larger armies that were close to our mines. I never did end up getting my mine back but I was able to acquire enough outposts to get me to 200 before Connor.

The combination of 4 kings is extremely powerful but I think there were a few things that went against Connor that helped me survive what could have been a massive juggernaut.
1) It was a factory heavy map so armies were sparse. But the main disadvantage this caused was due to #2 below.
2) When Connor started his attack he had a lot of outposts undefended. Even 1 driller in an outpost would have required me to send 4 drillers to capture it, but an undefended outpost is effectively the same as having no kings. And because it was a factory heavy map we were constantly at driller cap meaning none of the outposts I was attacking were going to pop drillers during my travel.
3) Backstabbing other members of the game assured that as soon as Connor attacked me that it became Connor Vs the other 4. Whilst the other guys were limited in what they could do to attack, they were all determined to make sure Connor didn't get the win. When I asked for an outpost here and there they were happy to supply it for me.

Overall it was a good fun game that was a good brain bender towards the end. Those kings certainly made me think long and hard about every attack I sent.

Looking forward to the next round now.

My game with 4 players was certainly an interesting one...

There aren't many 4 player games out there, but I wouldn't want to join one again lol

The gameplay started out fairly standard, with the outpost grabbing thing. I had made an alliance with Micsup2000 early, and Green later 'supposedly' joined in to try to attack Blue in a 3v1 (but this was later), the leading player in the game then. What I didn't realise was that the map was factory heavy, and I ended up sending too many of my drillers to generators, which meant that blue started attacking my factories.

At this point everyone had realised that if 3 of us allied and it became a 3v1, that it would basically guarantee a spot to the next round for the 3. So I tried convincing green to stop also taking my factories, but he refused, so I looked to blue for the 3v1 instead. When he refused too, I knew I was in trouble, especially with Micsup and me both low on outposts, and green and blue probably allied and attacking both of us.

I figured that the best way to try and survive was to retreat, so I quickly hired a king (with 2 hires) and retreated to 2 outposts, but the other outpost got taken, so I was stuck at this one factory with my queen and king and inspector (luckily). It even had strong shields. The only thing was, since the other outpost got taken before my retreating drillers could arrive there, I had only about 20 drillers at the factory, and producing 18 a day. I just waited it out for a few days before Green attacked my factory with about 240 drillers, which would have completely destroyed my queen.

I had 3 hires I hadn't used then, however the first 2 showed no promise, but the 3rd (!)... It was a double agent (phew!!), which I sent to neutralise the 240. At around this time Micsup was being attacked by Blue and he resigned despite having a mine and 3 other outposts, leaving me in 3rd place.....

Green gave up on attacking me, and blue only wanted to win, so I was just left alone and I can probably survive until the game ends

Two players pretty much dominated the game, lots of alliances made and broken.
By some small amount of diplomacy and great amount of luck managed to make it into top 3.
