Negative Medals are the worst idea ever. Please reconsider.

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

Medals should show for anyone who has a medal, maybe nobody in your current game(s) has one?
Actually gifting medals is, for now, limited to iOS, it's supposed to be implemented in the Android version shortly.

  • Let's just keep this in perceptive here - Each medal makes the Devs a little bit more cash. More cash directly influences the amount of additional features that are added. And people are generally more likely to a give negative medals than a positive medal.

And really, who cares? Your actions determine how others will treat you. Not a faux-achievement that someone else paid $1 to give to you.

Agreed, after reading a ton of ideas from your post on the 'monetization' of this game, this seems like a decent step- not mandatory or pay to win. As soon as it comes out on Android I will be shipping some of these bad boys out if only to fund this game.

I don't know about that last part, however. From experience people tend to treat others differently based on their profile. Your win loss ratio, ranking, and medals all give a little detail into how others should treat you.

Recently had a game where others wanted to gang up on a player because he was a beta tester, and a few jumped on board.

Thats still a taint on your account. They would either be hidden, or even if they wernt, then others assume the ones that ARE hidden are worse.

I have to disagree that "good ally" or even "honorable foe" are not negative at all. But if someone takes it that way, they should be able to hide it without anyone else knowing its there by a total tally.

At the end of the day, you have to boil away the fat and ask the question at the core of this:

Is cash in the pocket of the devs worth allowing players to publicly and permanently taint each other's accounts?
(...even if they've never even played a game with you before. *cough*topkilla*cough*)

My answer is a very strong no. Other people's answer might differ. But spinning the wheels on the justifications and other considerations can only come after youve answered that question.

I'm not sure I believe that this action was totally based off of their profile. Id be willing to bet they had ulterior motives behind their attack (either personal or strategic) and used the things in their profile to rally the troops.

You're welcome friend! The $.99 it cost me to give you that wonderful medal is well worth the price for the warm fuzzy feeling I get inside when I think about how annoyed it makes you. :)

True, it was beneficial to them and their goal, but it was convincing enough to create mob mentality soley off someones profile. The whole game mode 'anonymous' was created to hide profiles. Players are clearly influenced in some way (big or small) by another players profile, and Medals will play a role in this as well.

Exactly. While deep into a game, no one cares who has what medals, and you might even find yourself fighting along side someone you adamantly hate/distrust. At the very beginning of the game however, diplomacy can be tilted by extremely minuscule hunches and gut feelings. Therefore medals will have significant impact at this stage of the game. (not to mention that the beginning is also the most devastating time to have things shift against you, because of power balance reasons, and because it will likely mean a last/2nd to last finish).

  • I don't know. I'm not arguing that the medals are silly. Just that it doesn't matter whats in your profile. If someone has reason to attack you, finding some sort of mob mentally is an easy way to do so. But mob mentally doesn't last long if you can show the mob a better way.

  • I had a 'voting' idea that could potentially solve this problem.
