In this case, Road and I did have a lot of back and forth in trying to come to some sort of agreement where his Queen would live. As it got closer to elimination time, he would send out more of his specialists as gifts to try and entice me to change my mind. His goal seemed to be that if I didn't take his side - we would both be destroyed and in the 12 or so hours as my pirate ship slowly moved closer he would release more. He gave me one last chance in the final 20 minutes or so. A part of me really wanted to see what four kings could do, the other part of me wanted to remove him as a threat.
There is also the case that Road, Dane, and Pmoney had a really tight alliance where they were sharing resources pretty closely - certainly more shares than I have ever done in an alliance. So, the giving back of those resources could be argued that they were just going back to the original owner.
It was that really really tight alliance that caused me to go through with the elimination - I just couldn't trust Road to work with me especially with the history he built up in the previous 7 days.
After the elimination and the gifts were set, I was at a wedding that night and when I got home, I was practically yelling at Key Lime to start working with Fate and I because it was apparent he didn't receive any gifts from Road. I had thought at that time that Key was actively working with their alliance instead of playing the turtle and appeasing both sides, and my yelling was about why he was allying with a team where he received no benefits.
It turned out that Key was showing a different strategy that is viable for players receiving a certain specialist draw.
Now, I have seen rage quiting where the resources of one player are given to a different player where they had no history in the game or prior alliance, they were essentially just gifted the resources because they were neighbors with the eliminator. That type of rage quitting really tilts the balance of the game and I don't think this was the type of quitting that Road did.
I'm glad it was obvious what I was trying to do! It sucks that it didn't work!
Anyways, that trick has worked in the past (yes, I do make this mistake more often than I'm proud to admit), so I was hoping it would convince Braxo. Unfortunately, it's tough to pull the wool over someone's eyes when they've already done the same to you.
Regardless, Lime is right. Rage quitting is a cancer in all of gaming. But that is definitely not what I did (Come on, who rage-quits when they're filming themselves for the world to see?)
