One tick of the clock later, olive promotes the Lieutenant, that has been sitting at Billante for all this time, to a General.

So *just* before collision with the empty pirate sub, the General's global effect goes active, taking away 10 drillers in each battle where a specialist is active. The 38 turn into 28.

Post-gift the smuggler speeds up the sub to allow for quick next moves.

  • At this time everyone is unsure about the game mechanics.

Orange has 28 drillers and 3 kings.

Olive has 12 drillers, a General and 5 kings.

There's only 0.1 h for this attack to take place and work.

The way we calculate it is:

Olive's General takes 10 drillers from orange.
Olive's King damage was calculated by a player to be 5/3*4=18.6 drillers. So oranges drillers would be wiped out.

Orange's 12 were calculated to do a damage of 4 per King, so with 3 kings they would do 13 damage, wiping all olive's drillers out.

It would be a tie where the amount of specialists would make the decision in favor of Olive. That precious Lieutenant, that had been sitting at Billante, and got promoted to General!

(The math was probably wrong in hindsight. The general and King both work *after* specialist phase so Oranges driller count used for the King bonus should have been 28. 28/3*3= 28 damage, still leaving 0, so no change in outcome.
Also Olive's King damage should be 12/3*5=20. Plus the 10 general damage, so 30 damage, also not changing the outcome. But it shows how easy it is go miscalculate.)

So with that, we have a winner!

Olive, who managed to keep the mine at the moment his 200th Neptunium was produced, and thereby winning the tournament, is

  • Good game gents! It was really frustrating game.

And stefen only needed 1 more driller to extend the game!

    Most complex game I've played.

  • I'm not sure how this topic is gonna continue. Some comments about the tournament in general, some comments about the finale, etc. So to prevent clutter and improve findability, I created a seperate topic for my recap of the game.

Check my recap of the finale here:

  • I was the less experienced player in the game, it was an honor to be in this finale!! All the other players have been really talented! I actually learned a lot! We had to sleep less than usual, organize complex attacks and treadings!
Thanks Topkilla for organizing this tournament and a HUGE thanks to the Devs for this outstanding game!

  • Yeah this was a great game. Everyone played at a very high level. It was by far the most time intensive game of subterfuge I've played. I may do a recap if I have some time in the next few days.

  • Kinda sad I missed this one. Are there any more large scale tournaments in the planning?
