Actually, I honestly find that strategy gamers tend to be a bit more snobby (no offense. I'm talking about myself too.) than other gamers. We look down on people who would choose to play CoD (God forbid) or Dota (the horror) instead of a game that requires patience and deep thought.
There was a really good podcast that I listened to a while back about competitive Diplomacy (I wish I could remember where I found it) but the speaker basically said that his experience with the game was miserable, not because of the game, but because of the people playing it.
It's just a little naive to think that this problem exclusive to the Dota crowd or the hip hop generation. It's a human problem.
