Negative Medals are the worst idea ever. Please reconsider.

And we're back to where all topkilla arguments end up: straight trolling.

  • Is there an update on this? Someone gave me a backstabbing medal, even though, full disclosure here, I haven't actually back stabbed anyone. I made a player furious that I wouldn't stop funding his enemy, and I'm guessing that's who gave it to me, but it's negatively affecting all my future games.

Had I known this could happen, I would not have purchased L2,and I don't say that lightly. This monetization model is ruining the game for me, and for what it's worth, this is the first mobile game I've ever purchased. I hope that helps you take this seriously and fix this.

You can play anonymous games to hide your medal for now. In all honesty, I don't know how much the medals will actually affect how people treat you. I personally don't pay them much attention, unless someone had like. A lot of toxic medals. Maybe in another game someone will give you a trustworthy ally medal, and it will balance out. And if it makes you feel better, just think, someone gave the devs 1 dollar. At minimum wage, that's 6 minutes of their time. A random stranger thought that those 6 minutes were better spent on you than something else. It's *almost* a compliment.

  • Aren't those medals just for fun? I wouldn't mind receiving a negative one, because I (wrongly?) assume nobody will take that seriously...

You and I haven't played before, and if you'd have three toxic medals and nothing positive when I encounter you, the road to building trust is gonna be longer for you than for someone else.

Not sure if it works that way for a minority or majority of the people, but I'm sure I'm not alone in attributing some value to them.

(On the other hand, if they're balanced by a few trustworthy / honorable foe / tactician medals, playing with such a player should be very interesting!)

  • Just played a game with a guy who had 5 back stabber metals and 4 toxic. From what he said, though it may be a lie one dude gave him all of those. Although I'm gonna believe him because even though we were enemy's he didn't pull any deceit and was pretty upfront about not listening to my calls of friendliness.

Even with these medals he has managed to win the game, but he said it is harder to make alliances. And one player did bring up his medals in public chat to try and turn the others against him.

I'm still not a fan of the two negative medals we have right now, their pretty much the most extreme insults you can think of in this game, but would be ok with softer negative medals that didn't imply the user acts the same way in every game.

However regardless of what the Dev's decide to do on that front, I am certainly against the medals being anonymous to 3rd parties. If this guy really did get gifted 9 metals by a single player, I should be able to see that and make more informed decisions.

  • I was recently given a backstaber by a new player, before play started, because I declined to attack a neighbor.

    Seriously rediculous.

The neg medals are going to canabalize the player base.

  • I attacked a player to take his mine and it cost him first place. A player I didn't even have an alliance with, not that it should matter one bit since this is a game literally built around the idea of neighbors backstabbing, and he gave me a toxic medal because he was so sure he was going to get first and it made him so angry.

I'm really trying to hold onto this game, but I don't want to hear about the devs making money at the expense of the player base anymore.

  • i agree that I look at players differently with different medals, and judge them accordingly, why not? That is really one of the only ways to do it, and as we all know just cause it isn't true, an accusation can go very far in maiming someones reputation.

That being said I have seen people with a friendly medal, a backstabber, a trustworthy ally, a turd medal, a toxic medal, and they make the game fun for all medal, at which point i don't know what the heck to think. lol

On a side note, since the medals are only available on the iOS, can the Apple users give medals to Android users? If so, I find that to be a little unfair as I cannot currently return the favor. And also how much are these medals anyway? I haven't seen any of them or gotten any of them, not that I want the medals but I am just curious on how much they are.
