Olive and Tan! Not pink, I had no part in that...

...not that I wouldn't do that.

Lol, just watched stefan's recap. I LOVE that convincing people that you are crisismana is an effective diplomatic threat.

Also, I think youre right. I assumed you were blaming the game because you tried to scramble at the last second and didnt have enough time to do so. However, it does legitimately look like that queen escape should have executed.

  • Really enjoying hearing everyone's perspectives. And I'm glad 6payh focused on the diplomacy as that is something I decided to omit.

Still Very keen to hear Kevlar, crisismana and v3xt...

Especially v3xt because I felt I invested so much energy into trying to get you talking (and moving those drills lol), and just at the point we could have allied up you were eliminated.

In a mining game they could help you build up drillers on a factory and still be a force, but in a domination game there's just no use in turtling if you have to pay rent to your agressors, instead of working against them.

I want to clarify this a bit.

I did not initiate the offer. Math asked me if there were any possible alternatives to elimination. Well, his getting eliminated is profitable and convenient to my team, it's all upside, so an alternative would have to be better than that.

Yes this is a harsh offer but it's one that is not universally rejected. Math would have certainly gotten 5th place and possibly could have gotten 4th place in this game if he had taken that offer (instead of 8th). So in a rated game that can be quite a difference in rating score.

In general I don't think sparing your defeated enemy is a good idea, it's just asking for trouble later.

Here's a bit of my reasoning for rejecting:
    1) I fight til the end. I really would rather not submit myself to this kind of stuff. If I get eliminated, so be it. Worthy opponents deserve it.
    2) during this game, my real life was a bit.... hectic. Things were getting out of hand, I had trouble concentrating. All of my subterfuge games slipped a lot. So to have a good reason to leave this one was perfectly fine by me

That's kind of funny coming from you 6, especially with what happened in the domination tournament. :D

  • Yes aclonicy I had you in mind when I was writing this.

You're an example of the fact that the offer isn't universally rejected. And also "generally" it's a bad idea -- but not always!
With you things worked out, firstly because I think the offer wasn't as harsh to you -- you were given some autonomy and ability to operate still, and secondly because the diplomacy between us was "clean" ie no lying before our war. And it worked out very well for us!

  • Trying to get my video uploaded, but having problems. Doing direct from phone to youtube is really easy but comes in horrible video quality. I tried emailing it to myself, but it comes in M4V file format, which is good video quality, but for whatever reason uploads to youtube without any sound at all.

    Any recommendations?

Doing it through photos is the only way that works for me. Just gotta deal with the crappy quality :/

I'm almost embarrassed to explain my method, but here goes:

    On an iPhone 6+
I did 2 segments using in-app recorder, one 8 min on 7 min. My goal is a total video length < 15 min.
I uploaded both segments from camera directly to YouTube. As you noted, video quality is poor but audio is preserved.
I brought both segments from camera into iMovie to make 1 segment just under 15 min. Video quality is preserved but audio is lost.

    Here comes the horrible part.

I use the microphone function on iMovie to record sound onto the iMovie, and play the YouTube videos on my iMac, with the phone just sitting next to the computer, thus imprinting the sound back on.

That's why there was that awful dinging noise at the first part of my video - that was iMessage alerts coming from my wife's group chat. I went into settings and switched off that sound while recording.

    Ta da!
