[Strategy] Player Types

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Hey!
Me and other players I talked with have recognized a (possible) player type:

    ---Choose a name :P---
A social player who is liked by everyone. You just join the lobby and see 200 messages in the public chat. Surely, at least 100 is wrote by him. He is the guy, who takes the most neutral outposts, because everyone likes him. Even if an outpost is 30 hours from him and 10 from an other player, he manages to get it. He also makes a huge alliance, which contain at least 4 (usually 5) players out of the 8 in the game. Continously participates in wars, but only in one at a time. Eliminates the 3 or 4 players who are out of his alliance and tries to capature the most outposts. He is very thrustworthy. Does not betray his allies. People trust him so much, that they usually build they mines next to his borders and send no drillers as defense. After all enemies are eliminated, he drops like 4 mines (with his +600/day production), and collects 200 Np in 1 or 2 day. Usually gets gold, but willing to make sacrefices to let somebody else get a medal.

Favorite Specialist: Offensive ones at the beginning. Defensive ones after all enemies are dead.

Mining tendency: Drills no mines until day 5 or so, then wins the game with 4 mines in less that 2 days.

    Friends: Everybody

Foe: Agressive turtle players who are not open to diplomacy

Combination of: the Octopus and the Shark

  • Waterball, love that player type.

The player that instantly came to mind while reading it is Bangerz. For those who know him, do you think he fits?

  • That's so me! Except one or two people usually end up betraying me and I have all my allies team up on them while I make sure to claim the mine. They usually do that after the second or third mine I drop. Cuttlefish, anyone?

  • I'm heavily diplomatic, but making friends isn't ny goal. I get my enemies to attack eachother. I also mine as much as possible, and play full defense.

  • Love it!

I’d have to say I’m a hybrid of The Angler Fish and The Octopus.

Reading books such as The Art Of War, The Prince, 48 Laws Of Power, Mastery, Audio Logs Of Grand Admiral Thrawn, Documentary’s Of The Greatest War Minds In History, Simulated Tactics, Playing Other War Games, etc. Not to mention being in the U.S. Army. So I’m that odd ball within the game but I’m quite versed in the literature aspect of diplomacy. I use mostly the coercive diplomacy tactics or gunboat diplomacy.

Joining Subterfuge back in 2015, I definitely met many on this list. Great game to not only learn strategy/tactics but also human psychology for patterns and intelligence.
