Negative Reviews on App Store

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So I've briefly scanned through the reviews of the game, and I noticed that most of the negative reviews come from people who didn't make it through the tutorials. And I know firsthand from my friends who have tried the game that they find it confusing.
I personally didn't have this experience. I thought the tactical puzzles were a fun and ingenious way to learn the game.
However, it might be a concern, since it's bringing down the game's rating.

  • I must admit, I have always thought forcing people through the tutorials would be counter productive and put people off.

I always thought it was better just to let them play with the tutorials being optional.

Yeah, but then you'd have even more completely clueless players and early drops in the unrated games. Perhaps the early puzzles could be more explicit with the hints?

  • For me, the way I learnt how to play was the tot urial videos on the subterfuge website. After going through a few of the puzzles I realized I probably didn't know enough about the game yet so I went and watched the videos on the subterfuge website. If these videos were put into the game and propeller were forced to watch them I would say it would increase the rating as that is what helped me learn, not the puzzles.

  • My experience was that I didnt really enjoy the tutorials. I did a few, read the rules, game seemed straightforward and jumped into an unrated game. This is where I learnt properly, referring to the rules as necessary. As with r1ot, I also watched the videos
