In the last 2-3 weeks the number of players playing and the amount of games being played has dropped drastically. I was going to get into another game earlier and there was only 5 open games. What is happening and are the devs doing anything to react to this drastic loss of play base? Just wondering.

I'm suspecting that many people don't like the style of the game

I'm not sure what a typical retention curve is, but most games don't share it so prominently, so us players don't really pay attention to it. I agree though, it's a bit alarming to watch.

I noticed that you can find more open games on weekends.

I guess lots of players downloaded the game without really getting into it as it was featured on AppleStore's main page and was free. I remember seeing 25K players at the start. I think we lost around an initial 5K players to the opening puzzles. Another 5K should have left after noticing that it would take a Sub around 11 hours to reach the closest colony.

As of now, we are still 11.406 players. I am not so alarmed by the drop; even if we end up with 2-3K committed players, there are years of potential plays ahead at the rate of 1/2 games per week.
