Battery Usage

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Hi there,

Man I've been looking forward to receiving this alpha invite, thanks a lot !

The game looks amazing, with simple yet complex mechanics. I can't wait to play with real life friends to plot at the coffee machine or in bars, I already invited a few coworkers.

I couldn't help but notice that my phone (iPhone 6, pretty new) started to reach an empty battery early in the day the same day I began playing Subterfuge. I checked in the Usage control panel, the game is actually on top of the battery usage list (and I do occasionally play a bunch of games)

I didn't find any topic about this matter, and some of my friends play on their business phone so it could be a show-stopper for them. Is this a known issue? Do I play too much?

    Thanks!

  • Confirmed that this is an issue for me as well. Also iPhone 6.

  • I've noticed that too. We haven't done any kind of power consumption optimizations yet, so it should get better when we release it.

Out of curiosity: Were you using it on wifi or not? (I'm trying to narrow down if the majority of the power consumption comes from network activity or graphics).

  • I'm almost exclusively on LTE. According to my cellular settings, Subterfuge has used 55.0 MB of data. I'm on my third game.

  • I'm mostly playing the game on Wifi (which may be a bit flaky at some places inside my office building). Confirmed by the cellular usage screen (less than 200 KB for Subterfuge).

    Hope this helps.

  • I play a lot but mostly on wifi so I show very little LTE data usage (13mb on my iPad, 7mb on my iPhone 5s).

As for battery, on my iPad candy crush uses about double the batter life. In my iPhone, the default mail application uses more battery then subterfuge does by about 20%.

If there is a more meaningful way to report resource usage, please let me know and I'll get you the data.

  • Hi, i've also noticed a drop in battery lasting.

Subterfuge is around 25% on the battery usage, but after all i check the game every 2-3 hours or so with notifications activated. Background usage is disable though.

  • In the last 7 days, World of Tanks Blitz has used 40% of my battery, Subterfuge 28%, and Chrome 20%.

If you knew how hot my iPhone 6 gets when I play WoTB and how much I've played it this past week, this should worry you if you're a subterfuge dev.

  • That's very useful data everybody, thanks for sharing it.

Czechcongo: You're saying you're spending more than twice as much time in World of Tanks? Just want to check since that's a pretty good comparison.

  • Yes, way more than 2x as much WoTB than as Subterfuge. I can try to keep tabs on my estimated overall time spent in each app over the next day and give you the 24 hr usage data tomorrow.
