[Feature Request] Stat tracking

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So this is kind of off beat, but I'd be interested to have stats on various game aspects for both myself and worldwide. For instance, it would be cool to know what the most frequently hired specialist is worldwide. Or it would be interesting to know what my average driller production is in games. Maybe it would be interesting to know how many outposts the average gold medalist had at the end of the game. Just various trivia that may or may not be useful.

  • This suggestion reminded me of something I had seen in another game that might be a useful addition. The ios game ‘Coup’ (which is free if people want to see what I mean) lets you buy an expansion called ‘Spies’. And this expansion allows you to have 1 spy available per game that lets you either a) hide your stats from others, or b) use that spy to see the detailed stats of one of your opponents. The game is completely playable without it (I don’t have it) and only gives you background information regarding the players general strategy.

So maybe general averages across the community are available to everybody, but some feature allows you to get the detailed stats off 1 or 2 players in a specific game.

I think that would work great, and be a solid revenue stream for the devs.
I don't think I'd want to pay on a per-game basis, but for a one time expansion, like you said, I would definitely pay.

I agree. The model they used was a pay once (I think $5) and you get 1 usage per game (games were 2-4 players). So I could see a subterfuge game being you get 1 usage for every medal available ie. 2 in an 8 player game but 3 in a 10 player game. You'd have to decide who to pick out of the player pool.

Really? I feel like I see navigators everywhere. But maybe that's because martyrs don't stick around for long :D

  • I think martyrs are generally much more popular among less experienced players, i've been mainly joining high ranked games, and i rarely see them. I would say most popular would be smuggler.

  • I would say I see more smugglers than any other. It is the classic first hire. In a previous game of mine I saw someone with three of them... they are beloved.

  • And the smuggler isn't only good for speed, you can also upgrade it to a tycoon. On a game I recently played I hired 3 smugglers and turned each one of them into a tycoon. I also got a smuggler form an ally so that made 4 tycoons in total. However I was far from the Iglesias production rate in he game (I was 484, compared to someone with over 700 - higher than their electricity cap)
So I would definitely agree that smugglers are the most used. I would also agree that martyrs are seen often in inexperienced play. (Even though I am lvl 1 I name my games 'proficient players only' and immediately saw the difference in general gameplay - practically everyone had a smuggler)

  • Going back to the original point of this thread, I would love to see stat tracking. Stats I can think of off the top of my head:

    Overall stats:
    Most hired specialist
    Most promoted specialist
Average win time (probably would have to be independent for each player # game)
Average outposts controlled by the victor at game end
Average # of mines controlled by the victor at game end
Maybe a graph of average driller production versus time into the game

    Individual stats:
Opponent drillers killed (and an average per game)
Your drillers killed (and an average per game)
Graph of average driller production versus time into the game
Graph of average # of outposts versus time into the game
    Your most hired specialist
    Your most promoted specialist
    Your quickest win time

I'm sure there are a lot more, but point being, this would be an awesome addition to the game.
