E-Sports Subterfuge 6 Player Tournament

the tournament has changed because i realized 1v1s are terrible :D

12 players total. two 6 person matches to start then the top 2 winners of each game get to do 1 more 4 person match and then declare a winner!

since i need to spectate i have a idea on how to do that with the most minimal intrusion possible : i would make a 5 person match and invite the players and when it starts i would move all troops to one outpost then turn off shields of all my other ones. If there is a better way of doing this let me know.

There is a reason 1v1s are not very pratical. I recently played in a 4 player match and basically the winner is just the person who has even the slight advantage at the start. Or in other words, if you're winning at the start, there's almost no chance of the others surviving.
What I would recommend in this case is that you also put an option for 'Elimination' which is played with the same rules as mining, but the goal is to try and kill your enemy's queen without hiring any princesses.
As for the balance of the game, I would say that there should be a rule that no player may be in control of more than 60% of the total number of outposts at any one time. Otherwise there's isn't much skill involved anymore

do you think two 6 person matches and then the 2 winners of each face in 1 4 person match for the win would be better?

Yeah, I have to agree with tw2000 here. I played in that 2v2 tournament, and I have to say, it didn't feel like Subterfuge. Like tw2000 said, the game was over before it started, and the core aspect of Subterfuge, diplomacy, was gone.

Agreed with Roadkeihl, I was against road in the 2v2 tournament and got a crappy starting position and got completely destroyed but thankfully my ally got a better start than road so he was able to take them out. But agreed, I like the 'diplomacy' aspect of the game way better than having arranged teams

I would recommend doing a round robin or something with 4 teams of 4 It would approximately take 2 months. Thats what the titles suggest as well so i don't know what you mean in your first post

EDIT: Ok nvm I see you've changed your title. But anyway I stlll think something like a 4x4 round robin would be better

How come you need to spectate, why not just jump into the game? Putting all your drillers in one place is gonna leave an advantage to at least one of your neighbors.

As the organizer of the 2v2 I agree. It's not ideal. The initial 2v2 I played was on a 8 players map after 4 players got eliminated. Position was no longer an issue. It would be cool to be able to start 2v2 on a 8 players map.. that way all 4 players would have a greater chance at being more separated and position wouldnt count as much
