[Feature Request] Mute player button

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So, I just had my first unpleasant experience with Subterfuge. The game on the whole was great, as per usual, except for one player, who I'll refer to as brown. If he wants to publicly acknowledge himself, he can. Anyways, Brown sent constant messages to me. All the time. Inane, pointless messages saying, "hi road." And when he wasn't wasting my time, he was telling me what to do and asking me to give him everything. From conversations with other players in the game, I know that he did it to everyone else.
I know what you're going to say. I know I can turn off some notifications for the game. But the problem is, I find the notifications to be too valuable in general to mute them as a blanket gesture. What we need is a way to mute individual players, and better yet, a "foe" system so I know to avoid any games that Brown joins.
Please. I haven't been so annoyed in a long time.

  • Would this be a situation considered under the existing appropriate behavior guidelines? Sending you a PM.

  • Oh wow what is up with this person?
    "hi road"
    "hi road"
    "hi road"
"hey can you send me those 50 drillers there at boxlighter?"
"oh and also while you're doing that can you also give me your queen and 2 princesses you've got?"
    "thanks!"
    "hi road"
    "hi road"

  • I'm in this game and can confirm it happened.

    "hi r10t"
    "what's happening at X"
    "how many drillers are here?"
    "what is stefan up to?"
"hi riot I see you're online."
"Can you gift me your tycoon? I need more drillers"
    Etc.

From what I know he privately messaged everyone in the game, friend or foe constantly.

  • Yeah, and he wouldn't take no for an answer. He would just keep asking. He told me (not asked, told) to give him an outpost on our border and launched a sub at me, calling it a "Diplomacy sub." I told him no, and he just kept telling me to give him the outpost. Messages like "cmon road" just kept on coming.

  • Great idea. I have been in this situation and it is very annoying. I have had people type the alphabet 2 through and other random junk. It's is very annoying coming back to the game and having 50+ chat notifications from the same person.

  • I have never had this problem personally, but from past experiences in other games, I see why it would be wanted.
The option to simply mute a player would be great

  • yup, kinda surprised mute isnt already a feature if they found it necessary to make one of the very few rules to not verbally abuse people.

  • The reason slot machines are popular is because they give rewards for pulling a handle. I am willing to bet him asking has gotten him what he wants a couple of times and he just keeps at it....just like a slot machine.

Better yet, maybe he drove someone to resign.

This is his second game, so I think it may just be inexperience or immaturity. I can tell you two things, though. 1. It has worked for him a couple of times in this game. 2. Everyone wants him eliminated now.
If he is doing what you're saying, which is fairly probable, it's going to end badly. Maybe he'll learn his lesson? I told him exactly what he did to upset me, so he can't claim ignorance in the future.
