[FEATURE REQUEST] Message auto-delete

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Although I have no technical proof, I feel like the more messages there are, the more likely the messaging tab freezes.
If this is true, I propose that after 72 hours (3 days) a message auto-deletes itself, unless you mark it (a little bookmark icon would appear next to the message).
What do you guys think about this?

  • Hmmmm... Interesting. I believe we had a couple of conversations about this problem in-game, right?
I feel like I haven't encountered this, except very rarely. And when it's not a problem, I'd be frustrated by the game deleting potentially useful messages, and I wouldn't like having to mark messages, just in case... But maybe the benefits do outweigh the negatives? I don't have a strong opinion on this, but I think I'd rather see the devs try to fix the bug first, before implementing this.

hahaha yeah I think the Devs should definitely work on the bugs before trying something like this

But, this is a bug? Game crashes are pretty terrible bugs.

There's definitely something in the programming of the app that would cause the game to crash. I don't think Subterfuge requires a lot of processing or a lot of RAM, so it must be something else that's making the app crash. So they should try to find what it is.

  • I've seen the crashes, and I can reproduce them in the game we're in. If I tap the chat tab before the spinning 'loading' sonar in the top corner disappears, the game crashes.

If I correctly load the tab but then open a chat before the new spinning sonar disappears, it crashed as well.

If I wait both times until the chat stops loading, everything is fine. (All of this is on Android.)

I emailed the devs with the suggestion to load the first 24h of chats right away, and delay the loading of older messages.
    For example, until after:
    * the first 24h are loaded
    * 3 seconds after the first 24 start loading, this will most likely be enough in most cases
    * or until you open an individual chat screen.

Oh well that's definitely useful to know! Thanks! lol
Anyway, in that case this is definiely a bug which the developers can fix. Make the loading sign appear in the chat box if its still loading or something.
Also, it game also crashes once it reaches it certain number specific tasks
I don't know how to measure this, but it seems as if when you do enough of the following:logging in and out, opening and closing the chat, sending messages in chat, opening info on players
    then the game also crashes...

  • Many times I go back in the chat history to read and analyze what was the exact agreement, or the written words, the unspoken words, the words deliberately omitted. I find the history of the chat very helpful, then I would prefer it to be maintained.unfortunately I confirm also that in my experience the game crashes frequently during the chat. Anyway chat history is too important, I prefer to go through some sporadic crashes, which could be eventually fixed, than give up the history. But it may be just me, that I don't have a good memory

  • In making my commentary for the forum regulars game, I went back to read some of my earlier conversations with people. But it appears that my conversations older than 5 days back are gone.
