L1 Not willing to upgrade... Although I may choose to upgrade later I will not be doing it specifically for a tournament and it will happen randomly

L1 Planning to eventually upgrade for reasons other then tournaments, though ill throw in my 2 cents.

I not particularly fond of the idea of L2 tournaments for the same reason I dont like that only L2 players can play rated games. It separates a large portion of the player base, a few of those players who are probably really good but dont have the money to spend. Meaning that even having a high rank or a high place in the tournament isn't as meaningful as if everyone were eligible.

Although with that said, L2 users are probably more likely to join and not sign up but never show since they are allowed to play multiple games. So I can see why community members would prefer to host L2 tournaments.

I'm not so sure about that. I believe any one who is "serious" about the game should have L2 simply for the removal of the limit on scheduled orders. And if not that, then for the ability to play multiple games.

I believe one of the major issues with the current tournaments is waiting for all the players to join. I'm currently thinking that limiting the tournaments to L2 would solve this, and a few other issues.

Making exclusive L2 tournaments is slightly harsh, don't you think?
I thought you were just gathering a pool of people to host tournaments.

At the very least there should be a rule that only lvl 1's who have more than 30 posts can join or something

I believe the harshness of any restriction should be based off of the reasoning behind it. Here, that reasoning is mostly for the logistical purposes.

I also believe if you really enjoy this game (or any other indie game that isn't riddled with IAP) you should pay for it. It's no secret that this game has yet to make any money. At least according to the last blog post. If as a player base we don't support it, its only a matter of time before the devs quit supporting it.

We already know the outcome of this poll. Every l1 will vote for getting in and every l2 will vote for l2 only. Since most of dedicated players are l2, most people will vote for l2 only. This poll is very biased imo. Here's my point of view on this. You know not everyone can buy a rank. If you cant or dont buy something its doesnt mean you are not dedicated to it, it simply means that you dont have money for this. If you want games of l2 that join super fast : go ahead. But whats cool with these tournaments is that everyone can join. Whether youre a pro or a newbie, those are supposed to be made for fun and so EVERYONE can join and enjoy it, as a friendly competitive game. Not letting everyone join would make the tournaments lose this friendly and casual aspect.

My vote will be no surprise, I'm L2 and am interested in tournaments.

However, I also think L1 players should be able to join. But in order to make sure people join the games, some rules could be set by the tournament host. For example:

* This is a tournament, make sure you try to be available in case you advance to next rounds. (To prevent L1 players to join a game while waiting for the next round)
* Round 1 invites will be sent on the first day of the month through PM. Be sure to check the forums or enable e-mail notifications in order to receive the invite URL.
* You've got 48h (or 36h) to join, after that a reserve player will be sent an invite. (Or if there is no risk of reaching 10 players: two reserve players are sent an invite, the first to join gets the spot.)
* That reserve player has 24h to join, after that the game is started.

TopKilla pretty much did this, I just think the timeframes could be a bit shorter to reduce waiting. Also, when round 1 was over, round 2 was started a bit early. So while it felt like a very long wait, some players joined quickly after Dec 1st, which was when the 2nd round was set to start.

Most forum members with several posts will be serious about this. Part of the players who sign up to the forums in order to join, will be as well. But we just have no way of predicting that.
