Neptunium lore fail?

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • So I was doing a bit of research on neptunium for the lore contest. As it turns out neptunium does not come from a mine. It is a byproduct of nuclear reactors and plutonium production. So why must we build a mine to get it. In reality we would get more neptunium from our reactors than our mines. I think we have a life fail. Any thoughts?

  • "mine" could be a nickname for what these civilizations call an unstable reactor, pumping out this (dangerous?) nuclear byproduct.

This would make perfect sense as to why THE WORLD IS DESTROYED as a result of harvesting it to a breaking point (200).

It would also makes sense as to why a mine can be built literally anywhere an produce exactly the same result (no need to find a vein with material).

  • Plutonium is also natural product, so could be mined but its not in enough quantity on earth which is why we make it. Could then be used in generators to create neptunium. Could be why making a mine gives you more energy and more outposts give you more neptunium.

So if were talking another planet it could work out, or maybe some form of climate change increased the amount of plutonium earth created in not to sure of what could cause that to happen though.

    Edited: some stuff

Because of the games round about like map, I always imagined this taking place on a waterlogged sphere. I mean in the end we don't really know if its processed from another mineral or source, or even what its use it for- Building an "Aparatus" isn't exactly specific

I'm sure the developers kept it vague intentionally and because Neptunium does have that beautiful lore relation with water- Neptune being the god of the waters and whatnot.

  • You can try to argue that a mine is just another name for a nuclear reactor, until you realize that it requires drillers to build. I can't think of any purpose a drill would have in a nuclear reactor.
Zyxe? Now that is a name I haven't heard in a long time.

I might have a theory. Drillers are powered by mini nuclear reactors. When the mine uranium. The radioactive particles flying off of them turns it accidentaly or intentionally into neptunium. But this is just a theory. I doubt that drillers are radioactive because specialists travel with hundreds of them and they suffer no ill effect so I sort of just ruined my own theory.
