General needs a (small) buff

The general is clearly the weakest upgraded offensive specialist. The problem is that when it is most effective (early game) you don't have enough specialists to make good use of the global ability. In the mid to late game phases, it is generally ineffective. This is because you are dealing with armies of hundreds of drillers...who cares if you lose 10? I understand that you can send multiple subs with specialists to amplify the effect, but you are taking the risk of losing a specialist for a minuscule gain. If you are facing an army of 200 drillers, a thief is much more effective for a single hire than a general.

On a side note, a lieutenant is not a bad first hire. If you don't have any better option, this is a good one to take. The speed boost makes a big difference and the 5 driller kill bonus is not too shabby early game.

I propose a small buff, perhaps increasing the number of drillers a general destroys to 15 or so?

What does everyone think?

The general is one of my favourite specialists. In a way, it increases your driller cap by 10 times however many specialists you have. It forces your opponent to send attacks in 1 large group, as groups less than 10 are simply destroyed. If you can manage to get more than 1 it becomes even more powerful. I had 4 in one game and I was virtually unstoppable. It works well with literally every specialist.

Big fan of the general. Especially coupled with a thief or two and a diplomat.

Yup I had one game where I had 4 too, basically there were these abandoned outposts and all I had to do was worry about the shields. I ended up having about 46 outposts and 6 mines producing 276 Np a day..... But that's like any specialist. It would be extremely hard for me to choose between 4 generals, 4 tycoons, 4 Kings, 4 Security chiefs, etc...

Thats easy. Four kings. Making every 3 drillers you have being worth 7 is too powerful to pass up. 99=230ish? Please

I too think he is a little weak, but again it just depends on what specialists you match up with him. If I see a lieutenant I look to see if my next hire is either a 2 fo 1 (assassin or Sabetuer) a thief, or a diplomat. Pirates also benefit from him as they often go for small trade rather than the huge enemy fleet (enemy keeps sending 6 to one base? Just throw your pirate at em until they learn to start sending in bigger groups of ten)

He seems more of a jack of all trades and master of none and I think that suites him. He can be used for defense or offense depending on your play style and his global stacking pretty decent.

Hes not the most popular specialist in the game but I think how he is is just grand!

Nope, its not as easy as you think, especially when you're actually in a game like that. I had 4 kings and I thought I would win easily, however with a pirate, war hero, and 3 generals, he could instant -50 damage to any of my subs if it had less than 50. Also any outposts he took with a specialist became very hard to take back because it I would have to send 30 more drillers than was necessary. He also had a diplomat so.....you get the idea. Plus generals can move at 1.5 speed factor....

Although I did end up winning, it was probably because of my 3 princesses + 2 intel officers + 2 sentires which practically covered the whole map...It wasn't an easy fight, and my opponent only had 3 generals, not 4

Indeed the general diplomat combo is a decent way to try and counter a kings massive death force, there are a couple ways to counter the general combo- Double Agents, and Assassins- both existing in their own specialists slots- Defense and Offense respectively so chances of getting them are more likely.
Just in General I believe the king to easily be the strongest stacking specialist. I can't speak of your individual game.

The speed boost is awesome of the general. Plus the general can single handedly stop a base attack that contains a number of small driller count subs....which would protect against sentries.
I wouldn't say he can turn a game around but he is not weak.

I agree with everyone else that the general doesn't really need a buff. His job is to give everyone a small boost as opposed to giving himself a super boost. However, when ever it turns into 2 small boosts, 3 small boosts, or even 4 small boosts to all of your specialist, it can truly make him devastating. He also pairs well with other specialist since he has a global effect and can make specialist that normally aren't based around attack surprising good at it and make specialist who are based around attack all the more powerful.
