Experiment 001 Final thoughts

  • Experiment 001 was "public chat only" game and we couldn't send private messages through anyone.

I am going to break my review into two parts:
    1. Gameplay
The game was fun overall, only talking in public chat allowed us to know everyone's plans and alliances were formed in such a way that is was essentially a 4v4 to begin with. Because of this, the game resulted in a massive stalemate at the end (no matter who attacked it would result in a loss).
Pros: having info you need about other players as soon as something happened. And also being able to notify betrayers and enemies that should be dealt with publicly was an acceptable thing to do as that was the only means of talking. We created a seperate chat with all players in it for social conversations and there were some very fun conversations in the 'social' chat aside from the war.
Cons: So many notifications. Can't study for finals. Calling people out in chat actually caused quite a bit more drama than expected. People get defensive if they get called out in front of everyone ;) made for some interesting conversations.

    2. Repercussions.
The game was fun until we had talked in chat so much that all of our games started glitchinf out. Some glitches include:
Creating "ghost chats" or incorrectly displaying the 'chat' screen in a different game. For example, after leaving the experiment game and going to a different game it no longer showed the public chat in the 2nd game until I closed out of the app.
Additionally, (actually very frequently in the last 56 hours of the game) trying to open chat would cause the game to crash completely. Sadness.

Overall: fun game-mode as long as someone causes conflict and as long as there is war to be held. Otherwise it is a waiting game
