[Feature Request] Voting Idea

Strategy, feedback, or anything SUBTERFUGE-related

  • Just a few ideas from good ol’ Blanc!

    Voting

With the recent implementation of the medal system and the subsequent complaints, I devised an addition that could either replace or go along with the current medal system.

Basically, how it would work is that each player would have a rating (let's say 100 for the explanation).

After every game, each player is allowed to either upvote or downvote every other participant. At first implementation, everyone would have a score of 100 and every vote is worth 1 (hypothetically). So let's say I were to play a 10 person game in which I was really annoying and just toxic in general. The other 9 players would all downvote me and I would end up at 91. I could downvote everyone else, but they would only go down by 1 and if they were nice then the other players’ upvotes would counteract my down vote.
Now let’s say I play another 10 player game and I'm equally toxic and annoying. If all 9 players downvote me, my new score is 82 (Because on my last game I was at 91).
Remember, you can also upvote players so this will not be purely negative.

    Thanks for reading.

  • For voting, I think the non-anonymous modes already have a problem of becoming popularity contests (which personally I dont like), and dont really want to see that further reinforced.

King of the Hill: I have considered something like this myself, and think it could work. But I think games modes like this require a lot of by the devs to develop and test, while I really dont think it would be that final thing that gets a free player to buy L2. I'd put this low on the list, till after this game makes its way financially into the black.

Dictator: Im not so interested in this one. I dont think it changes enough to constitute a game mode, and the change it does make doesnt seem particularly enjoyable.

  • I've expressed the king of the hill idea before. It's probably a low priority as kevlargolem said, and I'd probably suggest it has 3-4 "Hills" to capture apart from each other.

As for dictator mode... love you're thinking of fresh ideas, but this one doesn't win my vote.
