All I said was that you had some inaccuracies and you come up with some arguments as to why they aren't inaccuracies.
I carefully picked out some things that were wrong and I'll tell you why your rebuttals are wrong.

  • I could go either way on this issue however I did come up with a solution that I think would not take away from the king but would give you a bit more of a chance. I beleve that if the king applied his effect after the shield phase but before the driller phase then he would be more balanced. Here is a thread I posted that explains the idea better.

I think this is a fair balance for a few reasons. It gives you a few more ways to fight the king by making your shields more valuable. It is not a perfect stratagy but it is at least an option. I also think this is a good compromise the players who want a nerf and those that don't can agree on. It doesn't change the amount he can destroy but it changes when he destroyes that can make all of the difference. He is not turned into an underpowered specialist under my method so that is why I feel that this is the best solution to the king problem.

  • There can only be one queen. Why can there be two kings in one empire?
    Rhetorically speaking that's silly.

Maybe there should be a prince spec that promotes from the hypnotist after the first king has been hired.

Because this is a different universe. And there are multiple kings even in real life. Just because your team is all one color, doesnt mean that behind the scenes maybe your color is multiple nations, who all pledge loyalty to one queen. (like the Pope in ancient times)

  • So guys I read all the ideas about how to balance the king and I have one idea myself which is quite close to what TheStash proposed...
The idea is that the king works in a similar way the general does...So the first king is 3:1 but only in battles where there is a specialist...Every battle without a specialist is as it would without a king...The shields can go -10 or stay -20 as it is now...

  • I like that idea. It matches the downsides of admiral and general. It also allows the enemy player to use specialists to counter the king; assassins etc. This would also force the use of Elder a bit more.

If it was a global effect similar to the General's, the Elder wouldn't actually help.

  • It would help because you need a specialist on board to get the king effect. That way if you had an elder, no one could assassinate/saboteur your sub; killing or sending away your specialists sub that would then 'negate' the king effect. The elder wouldn't negate anything itself but it would ensure that your 'king enabled' sub attacked it's target unless there was another elder or martyr at the enemy base.

What I'm getting at is if a player has king, sends sub with 100 drillers and helmsman at enemy then the enemy could simply send an assassin at the Helmsman sub, killing helmsman and therefor negating the king effect since a specialist would no longer be present in the battle. (would work the same for general, remove the ability to kill 10 drillers)

  • First of all, I'm really sorry because I'm not going to contribute on this topic. I'm here to speak my subjective thoughts about Kings.

I'm just glad there is a forum topic talking about nerfing the King. I just hope he gets nerfed, because his stacking abilities and overuse are making my game a little too fun for my taste.

  • During the Beta I didn’t see a single King promoted. But after people started using them and realising how powerful they are I haven’t played a game without one. I agree that something certainly needs to be done about multiple kings so I thought I would add another possibility to the mix.

Keep the kings effect as it is, but only apply the effect if the sub is within range of a king. Make the kings range the same as a standard outpost. So if you are in range of a king (or the king is in the attack) then the bonus is applied. If a sub is within range of 2 kings then the sub gets the bonus of 2 kings in the attack. The kings range can be affected by an intel officer for bonus 25% range. Also, combining with a Princess gives bonus range too the same as it would with a sentry.
